University Plaza housing

I'm a current Binghamton student seriously considering UP for fall housing. Anyone know anything about UP, or the process to get into it?

Living in UP is great. I have lived there for the last 2 years and I have resigned my lease for next year as well. If you do the math per month (12 months as you can stay there the entire year), the price of UP even for the most expensive room is actually cheaper than the per month (8 months as you need to leave during the majority of the breaks) living in one of the on campus apartments. You get a full bed, your own room, usually your own bathroom (depending on what model of apartment you live in), a full kitchen and your laundry machine and dryer is in your apartment. The lease is a 12 month lease from August to July. All residents have access to the clubhouse which has about 5 computers, a laser printer (you supply the paper), 2 pool tables, a tanning booth, and a small exercise room.

In terms of the process of getting in, there is a waitlist. The last I heard there was a waitlist of 300 people and it is definitely easier to get in if you go in alone than with a group. You need to go to the leasing office and fill out an application and submit a deposit. They will then contact you if there is a spot for you. You can get in also if one of your friends pulls you in.

Alright, thanks. I don’t know anyone else living there, but I am going into it alone. Thanks for the info!
