University Town Center?

I see a lot of threads concerning the on campus dorms but I can't find one with anyone talking about the UTC. Does anyone know what its like? The housing website doesn't really much as much when compared to the other dorms.

The UTC is downtown. Very few first years live there.

That won’t be an issue for me since I’ll be a transfer student, I was just wondering if anyone had been inside/had an opinion on it. :/

I haven’t been inside it, but I like that it doesn’t require a meal plan (or at least it didn’t last I looked). It seems like a decent option if you’d like to be closer to the city especially since University Inn is no longer a part of our housing. I’ve never heard anything negative about it (I don’t hear much at all about it, to be honest, but no news can be good news).

When options as a transfer are the TC, Village, or UTC, I’d say the latter two options are the best. They don’t force you to live in a dorm situation and you have the option to not have a meal plan. Village is pretty secluded, but it is at least on campus. That I have visited and I liked what I saw, but I can see how it can be hugely inconvenient as well (such as coordinating use of the kitchen).

I should caution this with I hugely dislike the TC and think it is a detriment to transfers and Porter so one could accuse my opinion as being biased. But as a transfer myself from last year, I honestly think the others are better options for transfers (the apartments as well). Not everyone likes dorms and I found it much easier to integrate myself into my affiliation’s community by being a part of it.
