University withholding transcript for balance

So I’ve really, really messed up. I went to a large university and got dismissed because I did not attend my spring semester classes. I had a lot of personal issues going on ( which the institution was aware of- went to the school psychologist and everything). Long story short, I missed the appeal deadline and my only option to redeem myself is to attend a cc and complete 12 credit hours in order to transfer back. Applied to a local cc and found out I owe the previous school 6k, so they’re withholding my transcript. The minimum payment plan they will accept is 10% monthly, about 600 a month. I absolutely cannot afford this and they will not budge. I have talked to everyone relevant and it has gone in circles.

Is there anything I can do to continue my education? Will I have to find a way to get them the money?

Thanks for any input.

*Edit: the university in question is the University of Akron in Ohio.

Nope, although that is a similar situation. I attended for an entire year before anything happened and unfortunately the cc won’t accept an unofficial transcript.

You could work towards getting the payment plan , it will lift your holds , thens emd the transcripts right away, and default on ur payment plan, its a bypass works 99% of the time, just ask if once u make the first payment on ur payment plan that if it will lift your hold, if it does, do it once and send those transcripts the day the holds are lifted. My advice.
