For those freshman applicants accepted, rejected, or waitlisted by NYU, unleash your feelings over here. It is exceptionally good if you talk about your experience when you were applying for and waiting for decisions from NYU. It may help next year's class.

To those that are accepted, make sure NYU is right for you. Best of all, visit it. Rankings alone cannot show you will be happy here.

To those that are rejected, remember you can always transfer. Best of all, you may have find a greater experience elsewhere. Going to NYU alone isn't going to ensure happiness. It's not the end of the world. As long there is life, there is always hope.

To those that are wait-listed, I recommend depositing some schools you want to go. I remember when I was applying for college and had high hopes of being accepted in the Columbia University through the waitlist. I end up being "rejected" from colleges that accepted me because I didn't hand in a deposit. Luckily Fordham allowed me to go anyway.

I am a transfer applicant to NYU. Good luck to me and every transfer applicant for Fall 2008.

I was rejected a year ago. I got sad for a few seconds about being rejected and then after that life continues on. Today it is like a forgotten memory haha!

Well, I am definitely considering NYU as one of my choices for fall '08. I think I will be happy there; since I'm from LI, I go to the city all the time, have done the tour and admissions info thing, plus I hang out in the village with my friends sometimes so I'm used to the atmosphere and know I will like it. And if I ever get homesick and miss the grass n trees, home is 40 mins away, sometimes less. Actually I'm considering commuting to save money, not sure yet tho.

However, to be perfectly honest, I was rejected from a school I really love, and while I would be happy to go to NYU, I am considering transferring to that school after a year. I don't know if I will, it's just a thought; of course if I end up loving nyu more than the other school, I will stay there, but I'm thinking of transfering out after a year. Still haven't settled on nyu as my final choice yet though.

I got rejected from the waitlist for Columbia University and also rejected from Harvard. I did not apply for early decision, my mistake.

I wrote a letter about how much I like to go to Columbia University. I guess it didn't work.

I got accepted to Cornell, Duke, UPenn,Binghamton SUNY, Stony Brook SUNY, and Fordham but by my mistake I didn't get to go those schools except for Fordham. Otherwise well community college for me.

Life is full of obstacles, and it hurts when it is because of my mistakes. Well I guess that's life.

ughhh Scion I hate you!!!! ok not really but still haha. Cornell was the dream school I was talking about up there ^. I didn't do ED (my mistake) or write them a letter. Actually I spend very little time on my app - you see, I was sure I wouldn't get in because it's a reach school, so I kept changing my mind about if I should bother applying, of course I did in the end since I love the school, but didn't get a lot of time with my app.

bubbly, hope you get off the waitlist, good luck btw :)

Right now I'm considering NYU, fordham and binghamton and maybe bucknell.

And also, scion - wow good job getting into all of those schools. You must be really smart...although not smart enough to put down a deposit lol. But If I got into cornell, my check would be the first one to arrive haha.

Ah molly4190, we all have our dreams but perhaps our dreams do not necessary give us the happiness we really want. Life is not perfect after all.

I've always wanted to go to NYU since I began my college search (which was rather late, around September senior year), now that I'm in I'm satisfied, but I was waitlisted at Tufts, which sorta bummed me because I had alot going for me but my calc grades were bad and my SAT's were not within a comfortable median.

I suppose it's the "grass is always greener on the other side" mindset, lol. NYU would be perfect for me if I actually got some sort of money, i.e. merit aid. I was bummed that I got nothing from NYU; I have the money to pay for it, I was hoping to nab some form of scholarship.

baobab, you can try searching for independent scholarships on collegeboard or Google. Also, try asking your advisers. There are many scholarships available not from NYU and dependent on financial need. I remember there was one that offer to pay for everything if you are willing to change your last name permanently. All you need is to find them and apply for them. Also, if you are there should be no fees whatsoever to do so.

This is my story. I've wanted to go to Harvard all of my life, but my main problem was I thought that just having the desire was enough. I'm in eleventh grade, and graduating a year early. I believed that getting accepted into an ivy league college couldn't be that hard. Long story short, I didnt prepare enough for my SAT's, I'm well rounded, good ec's, and I have a good GPA but in the end I knew it would still be a long shot to get accepted into an ivy league school. Luckily I got accepted to NYU, Northeastern, BU, and Lehigh. Unfortunately NYU has given me the least amount of money, while other schools like BU gave me 38k. I still plan on attending NYU, and I'm really happy that I am going to attend such a great college. Nevertheless I'm still considering transferring to an ivy league college after my first year. Sometimes I wish I wasn't in such a hurry to get where I want to go, but I've already made my decisions and now I can only look towards a great future instead of dwelling on the past. Haha that was a good vent. NYU 2012!

earlygrad - I'm in the same boat as you, only I'm not trying to just get into an ivy league college, and I'm not trying for harvard, Cornell is my dream school. Don't get me wrong, I love nyu and am excited for next year, and am so glad I got accepted. It's just nyu is not my dream school. now, if I have such an amazing time next year that I never want to leave, I will by all means stay at nyu, but otherwise I will try to transfer. The thing I'm worried about is that I'm in gsp, so maybe cornell won't take me as seriously as other transfer applicants? I hope that isn't the case because gsp is a great program.

I want to go to Columbia University my whole life and carefully prepared for it. But I did not get in. Fordham was my safety and I didn't think it was great back then. After entering in, it is really great. I like it. Fordham is a great school. Sometimes things are not like what they appear. I could have a much worse life in Columbia. No one really knows. The only thing I can do is look forward, expect less, and think positive.

I just got waitlisted at Emory, my #1. I'm considering NYU for next year, but I am really, really disappointed about Emory. I love NYU, but I'm worried because every keeps telling me that if I attend, I'll miss out on the "typical college experience." I am just so confused right now.

@Scion-if you don't mind me asking, why do you prefer NYU to Fordham? I only ask because Fordham is one of my options right now.

cj, you don't want a typical college experience you want an amazing one...trees and bushes and flowers are not for everyone. Think of yourself hanging out with your college friends next year - if you picture yourself drinking coffee in a cafe in the village, you belong at nyu. If you're imagining yourself lying across a lawn chatting with your friends, dont come to nyu lol.

But I'm also curious, scion - Why do you like NYU more than fordham. You said you liked fordham, so why transfer? I'm considering both schools.

Although I like Fordham, it is only good in terms of a college experience. This would only last me for about 3-4 years. What I like most about Fordham was the social scene. However, NYU does have more resources and a better prestige status. NYU represents my long term view.

As much I don't want to say this, my girlfriend goes to CAS in NYU. That's really the major reason.

Ok, so you transferred for your gf and the prestige and resources, fair enough haha. But since columbia was your dream school, why not transfer there? Just curious.
I'm thinking of nyu over fordham, because the school has more resources, better programs and more renowned professors. And also, I know that when you transfer from one college to another, they look at the quality of the school you're transferring from, just like how they look at the quality of the high school you apply from as a freshman. A 3.7 from nyu might be able to get me into a school whereas a higher gpa might be needed from fordham - this is what my counselor told me today. Again, not sure if I will transfer.

Good luck musictech12, hope you get off the waitlist. I know it must be torture
