Homeschooler in KY here; no word yet for me either…
So,based on @albert69’s good news, I take it that the schools will have gotten the NMF notifications by Monday. I really hope the principals/GCs release this info to the kids in the next day or two. The prospect of waiting another week & 1 day to get the letters at our homes seems like cruel and unusual punishment!
Ma1967, You may want to have your daughter apply to one of the full rides that she likes. My daughter has a full Pell. She took the Alabama scholarship when it still included four years of housing. Her first year the Pell covered the expensive freshman mandated meal plan, books, fees and transportation, with a little left over for incidentals. If she had to pay for housing also, Bama wouldn’t have been affordable. Without the meal plan, she has a bit more spending money.
Before your daughter commits anywhere, look really hard at your budget. Expect to have unexpected expenses pop-up. For me, it was the heat and air unit, and car each needing $400+ repairs in the same month. If I had to send money to the college too, I don’t know what I would have done. It doesn’t take much of a financial hit to cause havoc when you’re living close to the edge. Please have your daughter consider full ride schools.
So, I guess all the parents of public-schooled kids will are calling their GCs right about now demanding information. I hope this thread blows up with celebration in a few hours!
No letter in the mail and no word from GC. Still waiting to hear in FL.
I’m going to wait until @luvmygirls verifies that the carrier pigeons have reached PA, before contacting the school (with the hopes that maybe they’ll contact me first!)
Got a call about an hour ago from my daughter’s principal and guidance counselor. She made the finals.
We’re in Ohio.
Congrats to the new Finalist! Just saw something that made me laugh. It’s a mailbox that texts your phone when mail has been delivered. FYI for any of next year’s NMSF that might be lurking. Would have come in handy for sure this year!
Congratulations, @AuntieFacist & DD + thanks for posting! Shall we start a list of states reporting-in with mail? That way, if you live in the same state but haven’t heard anything, you may want to contact your school…just a thought.
So far, we have reports of acceptance letters received in:
New Mexico - Sat 2/7
Ohio - Mon 2/9
Feel free to copy/paste/update list as we go… You can also alphabetize within the date received, or I can go back in to do that as we move along.
We may also want to check other threads for reports, like the High School Class of 2015 thread and the Parents of HS Class of 2015 thread.
Congrats, @auntiefascist to your daughter, that is awesome! FYI for the other post readers, still waiting to hear from private school in KY. Will she be considering any specific NMF scholarship schools?
WOOHOO! Congrats to @AuntieFascist’s daughter, but more selfishly, the pigeons made it to Ohio, which is right next door to PA, LOL! Too funny about the texting mailbox. Can you make it send a snapshot of the insides of your box after delivery? That would be handy when checking mail from afar!
Regardless of how long it takes schools to share their news, OUR letters are shipping off today.
2kidsinky, funny that you asked. She’s absolutely mad for UK!! We’re waiting to hear from an Ivy, but right now she prefers UK.
My Ds finalist letter was delivered to her Michigan School today.
FYI, I checked the Parent and Student 2015 threads. No mention of NMF notifications from schools or Homeschool Principals.
And I have now - unfortunately - moved on from Conversation Hearts to Dove Dark Chocolate Hearts. Just opened a new bag…
“Jimmie, Why Ya Keep Me Waitin’?!” >:P
Wow, nothing in Indiana.
Thanks and congrats @UTBGSUMOM!

Just called them,. they won’t give out any information over the phone until the 16th. One thing I didn’t realize is that homeschoolers only get one mailing, so the envelope may be in a different pile than the regular mailings to the school. Since there is a certificate in there it would be a different size and may take longer.
Days like this that it really bothers me that our mailman comes at 6:00 PM
