@albert69 where are you going if you get NMF?
@Joe2015 Wichita State University in KS most likely. How about you?
30,000 is both undergrad and grad. The scholarship is for four years. D was looking at Pharmacy at one point and the scholarship would’ve paid for any pharm school she was attending inside of the 4 years.
Wow, awesome @AuntieFascist. I’m sure your daughter will do well. Are you certain that she will make NMF?
The opera ain’t over until the large woman expels melodies, but I’m pretty optimistic. No C’s, only 2 B’s in AP courses. Got the SAT score she needs.
@albert69 I will be genuinely shocked if I DO make it, with my 6 semester Cs. I’ll make sure to post something when rejection letters arrive in ks. I hope you get the full ride to wsu I’m hoping (unrealistically) for!
@Prospitfox What were your year grades for those classes? If you got those up to a B and your transcript only shows the year grades, then you might be good. Good luck! It’s getting pretty late in January now, so you might have made it. Have you visited WSU?
Oh, and thanks for posting.
@albert69 I dont remember, I’m pretty sure most of those classes were Bs one semester and Cs the other. Not that it matters because rejection letters are here! I had the misfortune of getting one just now! And yes, is has a very beautiful campus though it’s not in the best neighborhood
@prospitfox - that is terribly disappointing for you. I know in the long run it really doesn’t matter, but still.
Rejection rec’d in NC today: S has 2170 SAT and 4.36 weighted GPA (but does have 1-2 C’s on transcript, I believe). Maybe that is why? I am kinda shocked by this given what I’ve read about a huge majority of semi’s going on to finalist status. Very frustrating.
FWIW, wife just received an email from corporate HQ asking her to verify employment at the request of NMSC. DS is a NMSF and hopeful for NMF status, but has one C grade (first semester of Art, freshman year). We haven’t heard anything from the school or NMSC. Maybe one C will pass this year?
Sorry to hear that, Prospitfox. Best of luck in the future, which is bright enough, ya gotta wear shades!
No rejection here (yet?) on the one hand S has 4 C’s, 4.2 weighted, but a 2340 SAT. Hoping for some theory where there is a formula that weighs test score heavily. Could almost make sense since award is based entirely on test score in preliminary rounds…
Where are you located?
North Carolina
No letter today in Florida. So disappointed for those who did receive one. May it turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as it was for us when older S was denied at dream school and now couldn’t imagine being anywhere else but where he landed.
Our S was denied at dream school too (this year) and I hope that wherever he lands, he feels as your son does…
@Lurkeelou I’m so sorry your S was denied. Our S is a junior now, extremely successful academically and has a beautiful gf and group of best bros. He, himself says that being turned down was the best thing that ever happened to him. Unanswered prayers and all that. I don’t want to minimize the significance of losing out on NMF $ or invalidate a student or parent’s right to be disappointed. It still stings.
@Cshecmia, thanks. Yes it definitely stings- in large part because dream school was pretty local, and now with NMSF in play and possible NMF, it looks likely that S will be going quite a distance away instead. I rather like the idea of him being closer to home- aside from the dream school we really can’t turn down the awesome merit aid he gets due to being NMSF/F. So glad to hear a story where a rejection turned into an unanswered prayer- thank you!
@Lurkeelou I see you are in NC? I think it was quite possibly the same dream school! Fingers crossed for NMF but I know that your S is going to do great, regardless, and so will you.
