****UNOFFICIAL Class of 2015 National Merit Finalist Thread****

Congrats @4everEpical! You are awesome! Thank for letting us know, and very best of luck to you in the future!

Thanks @SparkleMom97 !

Yay @4everEpical‌! Way to represent!

Congratulations on your scholarship!

Great job, @4everEpical!

Congratulations 4everEpical! It was extremely kind of you to post your information & to give those of us with the 1 C grade issue renewed hope! I can tell you are a worthy choice for NMF - a good person to go with the good mind & good grades!

@LMHS73 Thank you! That’s very sweet of you

How did you access the information that those who did not make it to finalist status are notified before February?

People have posted here in previous years after receiving rejection letters.

@kmywest‌ Also, the last page of this pdf: http://www.nationalmerit.org/Merit_About_Leaflet.pdf

Thank you! Any rejections yet that people are aware of?

Not yet.

@kmywest Not yet. Wouldn’t it be awesome if every NMSF CCer (or whose parent is a CCer) made it to NMF this year?

Yes!
Does an overall strong record of high test scores, AP classes, strong GPA, extracurricular activities, offset 2 C’s in a sophomore year? Any thoughts?

@kmywest, no one can really answer that question, but each day that you get nothing from NMSC, I think your chances of making it are a little higher. What are your plans if you do make NMF?

Accepted at Northeastern with scholarship, University of AZ Honors with scholarship. Not yet heard from CU, Claremont McKenna or Harvey Mudd (reach schools).

D’s first choice is Kentucky. She got deferred at Michigan (still trying to get my head around THAT!) Waiting to hear from Penn. D applied in October, but didn’t apply ED. We haven’t even visited Penn and I guess we won’t, pending her acceptance. Meanwhile, she’s contacted several potential roomies at Kentucky and has become a HUGE Wildcat fans! This out of a girl who a year ago didn’t know or care if the ball was blown up or stuffed!

@AuntieFascist Does Kentucky give good NMF aid? Best of luck getting to NMF!

The Patterson Scholarship is terrific. Tuition, room and board. No cap on the number of recipients. You just need to be a finalist and designate Kentucky as your first choice. Which isn’t hard to do. They’ve done a lot of building and the dorms are super. Nice-sized school; approximately 30,000; not too big, not too small.

@AuntieFascist That’s great. 30,000? Is that just undergraduates or both? Yikes, that’s way too big for me. It sounds like a great deal, though. Is that for 4 years? I’ll get a full-ride for 4 years where I’m going. Thank heavens for NMF status (almost.)

It’s January 19th and no one on here has received a rejection letter yet? I’m really starting to think that everyone on here (or their kid) made it. I hope that’s what’s happening!
