I was recently accepted to an unpaid internship at "The Connection Newspapers" (local newspaper) in the newsroom. Since this is unpaid, would it be better for me to get a job, or go through with this internship. Which would look better for college?

It really depends upon what you are interested in studying in college. An unpaid internship may turn into valuable experience and possibly a paid position in the future...If you really need the money, get a job, but if you are interested in journalism sometimes the only way to get experience is to "pay the dues" by getting an unpaid internship. I would think that an unpaid internship would look better on your resume than a job flipping burgers...

I would think the unpaid internship would look better on the resume too. Think of it like an investment.

You can probably do the internship and get a part-time job. It's all in whether you need to make money over the summer. If you're a freshman, I would definitely take the internship. Junior/Senior? Eh, I would prefer to take paid internships.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I enjoy writing, so perhaps the internship would do me well. In all honesty, I don't "need" the money; but, some pocket money of my own would feel good. But, I have decided to apply anyway; it sounds like it could be fun? It's possible that I might also attempt to juggle a part-time job as well. The thing is, I also want to have fun; based on that I will make decisions accordingly.

Hey, I have a newspaper internship right now, unpaid. It was just for the second semester of senior year. It's fun. It's a really small newspaper so I'm actually able to cover events and write stories. So if you are able to get to write, then I would recommend the internship.
