Unrealistic hope for NU or nah? (Chance me...kinda?)

I'm currently a junior with a pretty low GPA compared to most kids on here who ask for chance-me's (3.5~3.7, don't know if weighted or not) due to unaccountable laziness and lack of good work ethic in my freshman and sophomore years; but I am an AP student, member of almost all the honor societies at school, heavily involved in school activities, volunteer frequently in and out of school, and play the viola quite diligently.
I would like to double major in Music and International Studies at NU but I just don't think I'm academically strong enough to even be considered during the admission process. Some people tell me that if I have strong test scores (I haven't formally taken an SAT yet), good recommendations, and etc. that I could do it but I don't know.

Should I even consider that I'll have a chance at such a prestigious university?

Given that your GPA is low, you can almost bet you’ll be passed over. Sorry to be so blunt, but given the current admissions environment it’s just how it is.

depending on your school, if you work hard from now on you can definitely stand a good chance of admission.

Lift GPA to around 3.7-3.8, 2100SAT and good SAT IIs and you’ll be competitive

Would it be a different story if he applied ED?

I applied with a 3.4 GPA and the median ACT score into Medill and was accepted. If your application is strong in other areas and you pull together a couple great essays, you should have a good shot.

Thank you guys lol I was/am being a little more paranoid than is necessary.
After reading B+ Grades, A+ College Application I feel a little less discouraged and more driven to do well so I can hopefully I can pull of an amazing app.

Someone can close/delete this thread if they want lol…?
