Unrestricted Electives

For the unrestricted electives, are we able to substitute some of the credits with our AP scores? I know I can only knock off a few math courses with AP Calculus and the other AP courses can’t knock off the classes I have to take… I’m just wondering if I can use all my other APs and use them for the unrestricted electives.
Thanks

This will determine if I should study for the AP exams or not :P

You want those credits that you get for passing the test, regardless!

The more credits you have, the earlier your time for registration!! Study!

Back to your main question:
I’m not sure if it’s just for engineers, but we are not allowed to use AP’s in place of our general eds. Like I have to physically take a class. We are still allowed to use AP’s to leapfrog into a higher class, GE or otherwise, however. It would appear this is mainly a Davis thing. But I think we have less GE’s because of it. The min is 6 classes worth.

agreed - definitely study for them. You will be glad you have them come registration time. I had a total of 14 AP units (8 for Spanish, 3 for Stats, and 3 for CompSci) and my registration time was still on the last day (but around noon, not 4 pm). If you can get it one day earlier, it will make a difference in getting your classes without waitlisting.

I do believe that your AP units will count toward unrestricted electives. Unfortunately, for my engineering major, there are no unrestricted electives. All units are taken up with mandatory courses, ge electives, and restricted electives.

I can’t quote numbers or anything, but it also seems like most of the people who
have AP credit for Calc start with the 1st calc class anyway. I didn’t take AP Calc,
but didn’t have any problem with the Calc 021A - it seemed like most of it was
already covered in pre-calc. Calc 021B and C are another story!

I see since I’m an animal major I wasn’t quite sure but thanks for the information (:
