Hi everyone -

I am currently deciding between Skidmore College, Franklin & Marshall, and Trinity College (CT). I am so lost and have been unable to make a decision, and I am running out of time.

I plan on studying government/political science.

I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give me! I have visited all the schools, yet I'm still unsure.

Thanks!

Is there a significant cost difference? They are pretty similar academically. All offer the same option for a semester in DC through American University; if you are receiving need or merit based aid and you are interested in that DC semester, you might check with each school to see if your aid will travel or not for that particular program. Trinity is in Hartford, which is also the state capitol, so I suppose you might be able to get some internship experience during the year there. Skidmore has a nice campus, I think.

You might just end up going to the one where you felt most at home with the students and where you liked the campus best if cost isn’t really different.

Trinity college has the most academic prestige as it’s part of the NESCaC schools and all, though these are all really solid schools that are similar academically. I would go with Skidmore just because sarasota is such a gorgeous town.

Their rankings are not far apart, I would not pick based on that. I don’t think Trinity really has any more academic prestige.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, I am gay, so this does somewhat factor into my decision on where to go (being accepted, not feeling threatened or disliked, etc.)

Skidmore is defintely a LGBTQ-friendly environment. Not sure about the other two…
