I'm a senior at a Catholic high school, and our Kairos retreat is this Wednesday-Friday. I'm not religious at all and only two people I really know are going, plus it costs $170 which is a lot at the moment. However I've heard from people that have gone that it's a life changing experience. I'd also have to make up a lot of work. Ahh, I don't know D:

I went to a 4 day camp that my public school offered and it was definitely life changing. It dealt with social issues (racism, sexism, etc).

I don’t know anything about Kairos though. You’re a senior so you don’t need to stress out too much over the missed work.

Maybe you should go and have fun? Take a break from school.

There is a hazy cloud of smoke that settles over every one of our senior retreats. Some kids brought guitars, and we sang songs.

Pfft. All of that could’ve been done without paying for the $100+ attending cost.

^^haha. You’re right.

Everyone, including the guys, cried every night.

Even though you could’ve gotten a lot done without going to the retreat, it’s always nice to take a break from the school environment.

The main thing that irks me is the cost… $170 seems like a lot for a 3 day hugfest.

^They had to raise the cost with the addition of the Christian side hug.

I’d say it’s a bargain.

Hahaha, well let’s see…

Pros:
-3 days away from school
-Spend time with a few friends
-Maybe make new ones?
-Would definitely be more fun than school

Cons:
-Cost (big factor here as my mom is out of a job)
-Kinda pointless imo to make new friends when we’re going our separate ways in the fall, and I’m already very close to the people that I know that are going
-Will have lots of schoolwork to make up
-I’m not the religious or sentimental type

Ahh >_<

Well if cost is a big factor, then I wouldn’t go, especially if your family is experiencing tough financial times. The only reason I was able to go was cause I had some money saved from my last job; there was no way my parents would’ve funded that trip for me.

I’m not really wanting to go now but my mom is insisting that it would be a good experience. argh!
