Unsure of a major?

It's tearing me apart. I have NO idea what to choose. I want to be a veterinary surgeon, but I also want to be a lawyer (not criminal defense; more like a prosecutor or an international lawyer.)

I am a sophomore in high school.

Strengths: History, writing, foreign languages, literature
Weaknesses: Mathematics (although, I do love certain types of math) and I'm OK at science, I guess.

I always get the highest score on writing exams, and my English teacher told me that I am the best writer out of the entire sophomore class. Foreign languages just come to me. I am in love with history (17th century (America and Europe), 1800s [Western Expansion!], European history, Middle Ages [Black Plague, etc] early 1900s-1920s America are among my favorites); and I love to read. I have all As in these courses (History - 97%, English - 95%, Spanish - 96%)

I do love mathematics, and at times, I will actually solve equations for fun and explore different types of math whenever I have the time to do so. Thus far, I have concluded that Geometry is my absolute weakest point in math. I am having an extremely rough start with it, and I'm struggling to keep my A-.

As for science..I try my best to become interested in it. I am in honors Chemistry, and I must say that I do thoroughly enjoy the class, but it is a struggle for me as well.

I am in all honors courses except for math. I will graduate with 6-7 APs out of the 8 or 9 that my school offers. My GPA is something like 4.4, weighted.

My dream school is UPenn.

Do you guys think that I would make a better lawyer, or veterinary surgeon?

Thank you!! :)

If you like history and don’t like science, then you should become a lawyer.

History, literature and languages? Sounds like you should play to your strengths and be a lawyer. You can always do pro bono animal rights work or something if you want to help and get a chance to feel good about doing so.

Yeah, I was thinking so. Do you guys think with my schedule that I have now, that my chances are better for pre-law at UPenn rather than pre-vet?

But here’s the thing - people constantly tell me that I don’t have the personality to be a lawyer. I have a rather reserved disposition, and I’m not out-spoken. I have extreme social anxiety and have trouble just talking on the telephone to people.

But it’s what interests me the most…
I feel so stuck. I obviously have the talents to become a lawyer, but not the personality. A veterinary surgeon would the perfect job for me, but I am not talented in the math/science field.

What to do…:-/

Bump, please :(

before my junior year (i’m a senior now) i did a special program at Harvard that let you speak with admissions people in the medical school and showed you the process of being a doctor. what i learned that stuck with me the most was that whatever you major in college THEY WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU LOVE AND ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT, NOT JUST SOMEONE WHO DOES PRE-MED SO THEY CAN BE A DOCTOR. they told me that med school is where they teach you what you need to know. if you want a history major go for it, because you can do whatever you want.
