How is university of New South Wales in Australia in terms of acadmics and social life?

Great for engineering! and as for the social life.... I'm drunk right now!

Some of my lectuerer are asking me to go to UNSW. So i considered them as a good uni, since people are recommending me to go there after my Diploma. UNSW Asia campus in Singapore will be open soon too.

I'm not too sure about the one in singapore, it seems substandard to me for some reason .. maybe its just me ..

Well, be ready for the heat mingled with the humidity if you go to Singapore.

haha... anyone know about the quality of the UNSW Asia campus , as in the faculty and facilities.. especially people from singapore.. do people want to go there?

The one in Sydney is awesome, the campus is nice, academics are supposed to be good, and the degree is noteworthy. I am going to do Commerce of Commerce/Law...It is a rather strange system though, I have to apply with my SATS ONLY-(9 on AP's). The scores are pretty high, but nothing unachievable; 2040 for Commerce as an International student.

UNSW is recognized as one of the top universities in Australia.

People travel from all over the world (mostly Asia) to study there. I dont really know what else to say as obviously i am biased as i chose to study there myself.

As for social life, its a commuter school as are all australian universities. It is quite different from say the american system where everyone lives on campus. However i would say that for a australian university, UNSW is deffinately up there on the social life scale. There are tons of clubs/sports and events going on. You can get as involved as you like or you can keep to yourself.

I have no idea if i answerd your question.. were you wondering more about the structure of classes in terms of academics or the sort of response i gave?

How is it in terms of engineering?

As far as i know UNSW is a top school in engineering. It tends to be recognized for those sorts of technical feilds while Sydney is more for arts. You would be better to get information from the actual school as i know each university can structure engineering differently so you would want to know if it suits you or not and if it has the area you would like to specialise in. I do know that the engineering students work really hard!

Since i am not studying in those sorts of fields i am not much help, but I have heard strong things about the program through the grapevine.

Has anyone got any scholarships from UNSW?I have applied for THE INDIAN UNDERGRADUATE ENGINEERING scholarships...how should I keep trck of the scholarship..

do they offer full rides or near full rides?

Only tuition fee wavier.

Yeah, but there are other ways to get travel expense scholarship(s)/accomodation help...
