I am an international student and have applied in some US colleges like Princeton, Harvard that I am still waiting for decision and MIT, Stanford that I got rejected.
Now, I saw that I needed to translate the transcript, but I have not. Those schools say that translating the transcript is a must.
I have received a confirmation email from Princeton and Harvard that the application is complete, but not from MIT and Stanford(even though I sent all the document to all the universities).
Does this mean that Harvard and Princeton have translated the transcript on their own or they are not going to accept me as well?
Is it worth translating the transcript now and send to them or they have already made up their minds?
I doubt that the schools have had your transcripts translated. The instructions clearly state on the various schools’ application pages for int’ls that they must be translated.
I don’t think this bodes well for you. The schools may just think, “hmm…he doesn’t pay attention to the requirements. Why should we accept him over the students who did.”
@T26E4 so, that means that I still have chances of getting in?
@mom2collegekids it is not my fault. I have been told that I did not need to translate the transcript and I believed those people, but I see that was a huge mistake. Is there anything I can do or simply hope the universities have not thought that way?
@tirbisha It is your fault. Now all you can do is wait to find out next Tuesday. It’s too late for everyone at this point as decisions have already been made for the majority. Who knows, maybe they won’t mind it and you will have a chance.
Having your transcript translated is not a requirement at all schools. My S applied as an international student last year and he had to have it translated for only 1 of the schools he applied to. You would have to check the requirements at Princeton and Harvard. If they don’t require it you are probably okay.
I don’t know your chances but I’d say they are slim. Either your transcript and entire package was already enough to get you in or your package, with or without a translated transcript – was insufficient already and they didn’ t bother to ask you for the translated one. It’s unknowable.
