Unusual Encounters

Have any of you guys had unusual encounters with animals? I'm under the impression that my house has problems. We've had the water tank break, we have found mold on the floor, our freezer has completely broken down and flooded part of kitchen, and we've had a few other problems. However, last night when I was trying to sleep, there was something flying around in my room. As it turned out, there was a bat in my room!:( It was a very unusual encounter. What made it more freaky though was that when we looked for it in the morning, it wasn't there. Finally, after my dad moved my robe, it completely fell on the floor with its wings sprawled out. It was very interesting to say the least lol. Anyway, has anything like this ever happened to you guys?

I had my window closed, but somehow the top half of the outside storm window had slipped down. This window is right in front of a tree - and a squirrel had fallen in and was trapped and unable to get out of this glass box. I had to let him into my room and fix the storm window and then I basically tossed him out with a dustpan.

I’ve never been so hysterical in my entire life - think like 20 minutes of straight screaming

LOL this happened to my brother.
He came home from work, and there was nobody in the house. So he was watching tv, and he started hearing a cat meow (this was before we got one) from behind the basement door. At first he was freaking out, because he thought it was a trick (like in movies) where a killer makes it seem like there’s an animal and you creep down the stairs basicaly into him, but there indeed was a cat. We still don’t know how it got there.

Yeah I probably would have screamed my head off if there was a bat in my room.

Lol, I didn’t scream, but I seriously ran into my parents’ room. It was at 2am and my cat was freaking out too lol

YOU DIDN’T SCREAM?

Wow.

If it was during the day, then I probably would have, but this happened at 2 am lol, I was tired.

I was getting water from a car and a little dog was standing there looking right at me. I slowly back away, except now it’s chasing me and I’m running as fast as I could to get to my house. Luckily, the owner yelled at it to stop. I think I woke some people up(it was early in the morning).

Now I hate dogs more than ever.

I am petrified of toads. They somehow ALWAYS manage to get into our house, even though we have never lived somewhere where toads are common.

A few years ago, I was sitting in my bedroom. I have a cabinet like thing next to my bed that has clothes in it. All of a sudden, it started making weird noises. I ignored it, thinking it was a mouse or something (which I have no issue with). Then all of a sudden, it jumped out, it was a freaking toad! So I started screaming. It jumped up right next to my pitbull who got scared and ran away. Then my dad woke up (it was like 2 in the morning) and was like “***?” By this time the toad was under my bed so he didn’t believe I had seen anything. But eventually he went and got tupperwear and we got the freaking toad to come out and then put it outside.

I hate toads.

I have also had many a random dog turn up on my doorstep. I don’t know why, no one else in the neighborhood randomly gets dogs at their house, but they always find my house and then I spend the rest of the day looking for their homes. I have even missed school to help them.

^awww. romani, that’s cute :] I’d totally miss school to help them too.

EVERY time we go to Tahoe (a ski resort), a dog shows up at our doorstep. We always go with two other families and we rent a cabin, and a random dog is ALWAYS involved somehow.

Most of the time they just usually barge into our cabin and run up the stairs, or they sit next to our snowman/fort. I love dogs though, so it’s okay :]

O wow, that’s weird haha, that’s good that you like them though:)

I was in Tahoe with my family and we had stopped at a beach to rest. They all got out of the car to go to the bathroom, and I stayed to watch the car. It was hot, so I left my door open. I was waiting there when all of a sudden, a chipmunk jumps into the back seat of the car and starts jumping wildly around my feet. I was freaked out, so I leaped out of the car and the chipmunk got out a second later and ran away.

It was a very strange experience…

^Oh! That reminds me. I was going to my friend’s house and my dad was driving. We parked, and while the windows were still down, this bird flew into our car. It was fluttering around and my dad finally caught it with this basket thing we had in our car.

It was very weird.

Another bird story :]
When I was little, I remember seeing this little bird limp around. I chased after it and it was running away, then it suddenly fell on its back with its feet pointing straight up in the air. One of its legs was bent weirdly, so I picked it up and brought it home. My mom tied a splint to it’s broken leg and after a few weeks, it healed and we let it go :]

This was before the bird flu btw.

A few years ago I was coming up the stairs with my mom and we saw something flying around at the top. At first we thought it was a big moth, but then we realized it was too big and we figured out it was a bat. So we ran into my mom’s room and yelled for my dad to get it, which he did. Luckily, that was the only time a bat ever got into the house.

My cat has also had fun with mice. One time he hid one under a rug. My mom found it a few days later while cleaning and it freaked her out.

And one winter my dog decided to bring us the ‘present’ of a dead furry thing while outside.

One word: cicadas.

A bunch of years ago, where I used to live was swarmed (I mean seriously swarmed) with cicadas. You could not walk outside anywhere without getting attacked by these things. I remember it made the news for a long time, supposedly they were mating or migrating or…I don’t know, doing something.

I kept hearing noises around the house, like a rustling sound, and a few times I thought I saw something moving fast out of the corner of my eye. I also discovered a bunch of dried leaves and twigs at the bottom of an unused fireplace. It turned out to be a squirrel, who had come down the chimney, and only wanted to get out! I managed to usher it to the door, but later found a lot of ruined window blinds where the poor thing tried to get out.

Platsburgh, that’s how cicadas work. They always show up every few years in a swarm. Here we have 17 year cicadas. You probably experienced [Brood X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Brood X - Wikipedia). They don’t just randomly show up, really.

Once I was walking down the street with my friend and a deer jumped out maybe 3 feet in front of us and ran straight across the street. We both freaked. I’ve never seen a deer in my neighborhood, and we don’t have anything particularly yummy, so it was pretty surprising.

There used to be a bat in my basement, but I was a baby then. And there were raccoons in the attic, but I was a baby then too. A month or so ago a hawk, yes, a hawk, flew into my screened in porch and got stuck in there for an hour. We have one window open and the stupid bird apparently couldn’t figure out where it was. I didn’t even know there were hawks around here, but apparently three have moved to the neighborhood. If only it were a normal bird like a robin. I wanted to help it get out, but my mother wouldn’t let me, so I took pictures and put them on facebook.

Once a squirrel got into our house during thanksgiving. it was pretty funny actually
