Would having a pilots license count as an extracurricular? Do you think it gives me any kind of second look? Im not extremly passionate about it, and Im not going into any kind of aerospace. I fly about 2 or 3 times a month in my dad's 2-seater plane.
Its not like a commercial license, but for private planes; a recreational hobby

sounds like a cool essay topic

Definitely list it on your resume. I think it's a great EC!

What license do you hold? I hold a PP-ASEL.

I've never really talked to an actual admissions officer about it, but everything I have heard from people tells me that it would be an extremely strong EC. I'm planning to revolve my essays around it, and really emphasize the amount of work I put into getting it, and how important it is to me now.

If you aren't passionate about it, I question whether or not you could write a good essay about it. Would you consider this your most passionate hobby, or are there others?

no, the reason I said I wasnt passionate about it was to inply that its not really the center of what I do and I doubt I could write a very strong non-BS essay about it.
Its kinda like just playing basketball with friends after school; its not a huge part of my life, just something fun to do every now and then. Im more computer-science and bio oriented than this, which is also why I stressed im not planning to major in anything remotely related to aviation.

That's a ridiculously cool ec, whether or not it's something you're "passionate" about.

wow, that's awesome. Put it down no matter what.
