UofToronto Vs NYU Stern

I have also posted this on another thread but i thought u people would know better

K I am Canadian and I am accepted to UT's business program as well as Stern's business program. I am planning to major in finance. Should I stay in Canada or Stern? I am leaning heavily towards Stern just cause it is in New York and I thought it might be different experience. Money is of no issue. I see quite a few americans applying to Canada and maybe its because I'm from Canda so I dont quite see what's so good about Canadian schools. Which of these 2 schools would have a better reputation in the world?

If money is no problem and ur 100% sure u can shell out US $40,000+ a year then surely go to stern.

In toranto u cannot directly enter the Rotman skool of business (which is on par with NYU stern). The undergrad degree u get from toranto is not worth much since its from the facutly of arts or something. You do get to take some classes in Rotman in the final years, but that is about it.

New York is after all the finance capital of the world. Your job oppourtunities will be better there, but then again u will be competing with best in the world.

I would definately pick stern

No question about it, go to Stern. I would say that going to McGill's management program is even better than UofT's business program. You need like an 83% to get into UofT's business, and a 90% to get into McGill's, 87 or 89% for Queens, and 90% for Ivey. Just think about that. Besides, for social purposes, Toronto is not a very good place to go. I would say that New York is far better. As long as you're sure that money's not an issue, especially because it's only undergrad, then definately go to New York. You're right, it is a new experience, and a valuable one at that too.

hey thnx for the replies, I have mailed out my 500$ to NYU. I think I'll like it there.

Here is the main reason why Americans consider Canadian schools:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=51018&page=1&pp=20%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=51018&page=1&pp=20</a></p>

Even if Canadian schools are comparable in quality to #50-#100 in the states, they are a bargain for Americans who fall through the US financial aid system. If Canadian schools were to cost more like US$30K or more, there would not be many American applicants.

If cost isn't an issue for you, between the two I'd go to Stern.

no brainer... go to stern!!

No Canadian university can compare to a US counterpart if cost of education is not an issue. If it is, then you have to assess the benefit gained from going to a US college with the money, most likely, saved by going to a Canadian university such as U of T.

Thank God I went to highschool in US! I used to live in Windsor, ON but my dad shipped me off to Michigan for highschool. College is much easier to get into; Stern is like my 3rd choice. I did not know people valued American education so much more... it would've been so hard to get into UT if I stayed in Windsor, and that would've been the best college there was.
