Hi collegeconfidential!

I have an interview with a Rice Alumni at the local Starbucks in a week and a half. What should I be wearing? I've read that it should be casual, perhaps semi-casual as long as I'm comfortable. I was thinking about wearing a polo shirt and these khaki-colored canvas pants (not actual khakis, too informal?) along with shoes (I have no idea which shoes are considered too informal or what not). Does anyone have tips?

Thanks in advance

Just dress nicely but casually. Slacks/khakis and a polo are perfectly fine. These interviews are usually informal and are more about getting to know you, and giving you an opportunity to get to know Rice.

Do not worry about it too much. Good Luck!

I just did my interview Tuesday with some Sperry’s, slacks and a polo. It really seemed appropriate. The applicant next to me had a suit on and he looked SOOOOOO out of place. Don’t wear a suit.

I had an interview with an alumni and I went with casual attire while she just wore a T-shirt and jean shorts.

I agree with wavylays, take it easy.

Poncho, sombrero, and riding boots.

But seriously, whatever you’d normally wear if you were taking your girlfriend/boyfriend out on a casual first date. So casual but nice.
