I'm going to visit Tulane in a few days. Any suggestions or things to take note of? What about a one on one meeting with an admissions rep?

Well, summer is not the best time to visit. First of all, the school is not in session so it is hard to get the feel for what it is really like on a typical day during a regular term. Second, the weather is hotter and far more humid than most of the school year. It is very warm for about the first month, then it starts to get nicer and for the rest of the school year it typically won’t get much above 80. The point is that that while it is understandable that summer is sometimes the only time people can visit, it just doesn’t have the vibe that makes Tulane such a great place to be. But for sure make an appointment with an admissions rep and introduce yourself (assuming you are the student). Come prepared with questions related to your potential major and/or anything you saw about Tulane when going through the web site. It is always more impressive when a student comes prepared with at least having done some homework first.

Other than that, make a note of Audubon Park right across the street from campus. It is almost like an extension of the campus, one of the best quads in the world if you will. If you are into fitness you will want to check out the Reilly Center. If you relate your interests we could possibly make better suggestions.

Although many faculty wont be around, see if there is anyone from the department you are interested in. a 1-1 wiht your Admissions rep is never a bad idea, make sure you schedule it ahead of time. Commencement is this weekend, when are you going?
