Updated Chances for the strange Asian

Yeah… The only score I feel okay to good about is the 4 on AB Calc AP test.

I completely forgot about Carleton.

Carleton: Reach

Hey thanks for chancing me!

I think your SAT 1 is a tad low for the top schools (since you are an Asian) and you definitely need to work on your subject tests.

You have decent extracurricular but I think the most important part of your application will be your essay. You need to phrase it in a way that:

It doesn’t seem like you are finding excuse or blaming others

The problems you had faced are enough to drastically affect your grades

They have developed your character in a significant way

You have mostly overcome your problems and will perform much better

With a convincing essay and improved SAT 2 scores, I believe you have a great chance at all schools except Brown and MIT for obvious reasons.

Chance me and I’ll chance back?

MIT: High Reach
Brown: High Reach
Carleton:High Match
Wellesley: Reach
BU: Match
Smith: Match
GA Tech: Match

^ Start your own thread.

@OP:
It seems the strength of your credential is in your SAT1 only. Your GPA, AP and SAT2 scores are all rather low when compare to your SAT1 score. That usually raise a red flag in the admission office. Many kids start preparing for ACT/SAT1 early on and score very high. Those are usually Asians either here in the US or international students. That is one of the reason Asian candidates always get a discounted score in the admission process. Your profile do fit that kind of prototype and may have a negative impact on your chance.

^ I mean stereotype not prototype.

Hey, thanks. I didn’t find this thread again until today. :stuck_out_tongue:
@philosophomaj: That’s a TON of schools. Maybe narrow it down a little and then people would be more willing to do chances for you? Sorry. But as billcsho said, please make your own thread.

@billcsho: Thanks for the input! I’m planning on not reporting AP scores, or at least not reporting the Physics test scores. At least during the admissions process. As for SAT2s, I’ll retake… I know exactly what I was doing wrong, at least I think I do, which probably isn’t that credible. GPA, can’t really do much about it at this point except do my best senior year. Hopefully with more help from staff, I’ll be able to do better. Thanks again.

You should apply to UCLA.

Um, okay.
Why?
