I know nothing about the ACTs and of course I am just a recent admitee but I think your chances look good. Your GPA and extracurriculars are great and you're from KY which I'm guessing can only help you. Feel better?

Out-of-state female is the toughest group to be in because W&M is committed to 60% in-state, and tries to stay as close to 50%-50% male-female as possible considering that over 62% of applicants are female. I point that out not to discourage you, but to explain why you can never count on getting in if you are in that group (not that it is much better for OOS males).

I think you have a very good chance and it would be foolish to not apply if you like W&M. Your ACT is lower than "sure thing" level (if such a thing existed for OOS females) but your extracurriculars are outstanding.

Just as a data point - we live in Louisiana and my son started W&M this last semester. He took the ACT three times (and got 28 on the first try, 32 on the second, and 34 on the third). His extracurriculars didn't hold a candle to yours.

i got in (out of state, female) and my ACTs were no where near what yours were... i think they were a 27 composite (but they probably looked at my SATs - not sure of the comparison of 1380 (1980) SAT to a 31 ACT). my ec's are very good (similar to yours) and my essays (from my viewpoint ;) ) were good, also. i did send in the opp. recommendation and submission. i will have completed eight APs by the end of senior year. gpa is similar to yours, but i can't say that i'm number 1 in my class.
however, i did apply early.

good luck. not sure if i helped at all.

thanks for yalls help!:) its going to be a long, long 2.5 months...

FYI - the conversion from SAT to ACT shows 1360 to 1400 SAT equals 31 ACT.

anyone else?

bump please?:) im sorry...just would like a couple more opinions!

i don't think your chances changed any, you are a strong applicant [still] and definitely not a lock [still]
