P.S. My son's statistics were similar to yours (slightly lower GPA, slightly higher test scores--IB program throughout)--and he's starting at Indiana Univ this August (declared finance major).

(Oh, and for those who are from the Boston area and want to stay there, besides Bentley College, those people can also look at Boston University and Boston College--both slight reaches).

just curious, but how do most colleges look at GPA? My school does it on a 4.5 scale where A+=4.5, A=4.0, B+=3.5 and so on, but all classes are also honors. AP classes start at 5.5. Will colleges look at GPA on a 4.0 scale despite honors and AP considerations?

Most colleges do it where an A+, A, and A- is a 4; B+, B, B- is a 3, etc. They will consider course load but they won't typically weigh your GPA because you took challenging classes, they expect that out of students.

excel, it's really weird that you are top 6% and have a 3.4. Colleges will notice that and take into consideration. However, 27 ACT may eliminate you from some schools, but still get into some awfully good ones. Here's some I think you have a chance at;

REACH: Texas, BYU, Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland
MATCH: Miami OH, Penn State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Boston U, Georgia , Syracuse
SAFETY: Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa, Purdue, Baylor

Oh, and the reason Texas is a REACH is because i'm thinking for B-School admissions, I know the cut off is around 5% and your at 6%, but for the general school I believe you're in.
