Updating a college with National Merit Semifinalist status

I applied to WashU in late August before I knew I was a National Merit Semifinalist. The reason I applied so early was because I had finished my Commonapp essay and it doesn’t have a supplement.

In the resume I sent as part of my WashU application, I did put “National Merit Semifinalist Candidate” under the “Awards/Honors” section, with my score next to it. I just realized I never updated them about it. Do you think it would be worth it to send them an update, would it make any difference? Or should I just leave it because they’ll probably assume that I was a SF from the score I provided?

Thank you!

Definitely update them! It can’t hurt!

@Chips99 I’m just a bit scared I’ll look like I’m desperate to update them or something, especially since I did put “SF Candidate” with my score and it’s been a while since the SF results were released. Thank you for your input!

@bssurly I wouldn’t worry about it - if they do think anything of it, it’ll be more “wow, they really care” than “wow, this person is desperate” :slight_smile:

Good luck!!!

Does anyone else have any input? I’d really appreciate it.

just tell them. as @Chips99 said, it won’t hurt.

@wormholes thank you!

you should play hard to get and look like you never gave a crap

jk send the update.
