Ugh well my high school is INTENSE! I’m taking eleven courses at once and have to make time for my own activities (there aren’t any sports teams or clubs) so, although I’ve met some great people, I just want it to be over.

I think I screwed my interview up. My interviewer asked me about other universities I applied to, and whether Penn was my first choice. I said it was my second choice, and then went on to elaborate why I’m 60-40 between Stanford and Penn, and how I might choose Penn over Stanford if I get both.

Saying Penn isn’t my first choice, that’s a big taboo right. Stupid me stupid me.

Has anyone not got any interviews/news from Penn? My interviewer hasn’t confirmed the time and venue with me and my interview is in late Feb…

focus, Telling the interviewer Penn is your 2nd choice is not good. Unless you’re an extrodinary applicant and or he doesn’t put that in his report it won’t help your chances of getting one of the 1250 open spots that almost 30k people are fighting for.

@rebel11,
My exact words were: “it’s in my top 2”. Well, I’m not an extra-ordinary applicant by any means and well, I know I screwed up.

That’s fine, looking forward to my decision nonetheless.

I don’t know what I was thinking :|.

Focus, What are your stats? & which program are you applying to?

Every school is your top choice although it may not be your #1 choice. Think of all the thousand of schools out there. If you narrow your list down to a whopping 20 schools, you can still say that each one of them is your top choice and be honest.

@rebel11,

SAT I - 2200
SAT IIs - 780 Bio E, 790 Math IIC
School doesn’t rank or give us a GPA, but I’m guessing my IB Predicted would be somewhere from 41-43/45.
I’ve done a lot of research in the field of epilepsy, like research papers and projects. One of my research papers was accepted to present at a conference where some of the best doctors attend and present. I also did some research in the field of Autism for another NGO. I applied for Cognitive Science (CAS), and I’m an Indian from India.

I didn’t apply expecting to get in, the interview just lowered my expectations haha.

What about you, how are your stats and stuff?

@Madaboutx,

I think I’ll remember that for my next interview(s) now that I’ve learned the hard way.

Hey focus, My son was admitted ED @ CAS class 2017, SAT 2240/2400, 1520/1600. SAT 2 780 Bio, 770 USH. Good EC’s and 4 year tennis all-star. Good luck

Wow, your S seems like a great applicant.

Good luck to your son and your family as well, I’m sure he’ll have a great time at Penn.

Hopefully I’ll see him there, thanks anyway!

Have my interview today, am very nervous!

Hey antarctica… Relax… Where is your penn int? I had mine day before and I had to fly down to a different city for the day… The int went well here are few tips
- mark your strenghts and weakness
- they will ask you of course why penn
- look confident reply
- ask questions to ahow awareness and interest
- dont show lack of goal… Talk about specific majors and your interests

Fly down to another city? for a Penn Interview? That’s criminal of that person to ask you to have done that. Ridiculous.

Where did you “have” to fly?

My interview is at Starbucks. It’s actually my first interview that’s at a public place like that.

I am an international student from India and since alumunus were not available everywhere they had set up all interview at Mumbai with 4 alumunus present on site. Although I could have waived my interview or maybe even done it bu phone, the Penn site says that a personal one would be better. I thought I might as well go since holidays are going on in our school and as a plus point I managed to squeeze in my Brown interview as well just before the Penn one. 12-12:45 brown and 1-2 pm Penn… Then flight back to my city at 5. I dont think it was borhersome. Actually it was quite fun. :)

Nice to have the expendible income. It’s still rankles me (and I live in the US)

I had my interview yesterday!
Went so well. :D

Nice to have the expendable income. It’s still rankles me (and I live in the US)

I was exactly thinking the same, and was a bit jealous coz I couldn’t exactly afford TOEFL due to the fact that I had to travel half a country to give that test. And this guy raked off thousand just for fun… :-(

Non FA international applicant.
