@queenharambe Yes. Since schools like Pitt that do rolling admissions have no legal obligation, it does not violate Penn’s policies.
Thank you so much for the help!
Finishing up my application!!! Excited to apply… Does anyone know the day we get a decision? So far everything just says mid-December.
@jed2020 I believe the decisions are released on December 15
Pretty sure you can apply to any public university in the ED round.
Oh the campus was medium size, so you wouldn’t need a bike to go around. I thought the buildings were very nice looking. And the vibe was not as rigid as Harvard. The engineering and lab buildings were very modern, but mixed well with the overall Gothic style. High rise dorms were better equipped than other ivies as well. : ) Sorry for getting to you so late.
Hey, I decided to not apply to FA afterall. I heard of two international students who got aid, and they did not get much
Would there be a benefit in applying to SEAS as a girl? I know engineering schools usually like girls, but Penn has a very high ratio of women already, and I don’t know if that means they are preferring girls or the benefit is lessened here than at other schools.
Good question…I was wondering the same thing for Wharton, if it’s easier for a girl. Any one have any idea?
Hey, current Wharton kid here. Y’all should apply ED. It’s so much easier to get in this way. RD is basically impossible to get into. Basically every single Wharton kid I know got in ED. No one gets in RD. I was only like one of few. In fact, we had a GM for our whole Wharton class, which started as soon as ED results came out in December. So, for four months, these people all got to know each other, and then when I joined the GM in April, I was so out of the loop and everyone already knew each other, and I was a newbie. I felt like I missed out and it was certainly a lot of work that I could’ve done without had I done ED rather than RD.
@heywhatisdown I def would want to apply ED, but I’m concerned about the financial aid not being sufficient, did you face the same problem??
Anyone applying ED Penn and for Navy ROTC?
Does anyone know how much legacy helps at Wharton vs Arts and Sciences?
Legacy helps during ED. To what degree depends on individual applicants. The legacy boost has diminished over the years. Penn deferred and rejected many legacy applicants last year (class 2020). Some were accepted by UChicago, and MIT. Many complaints in the thread of 2020 ED result.
Legacy will not be a make or break. Just because a family member has gone doesn’t mean the child is up to the same standard and colleges know this. If you are considering to early only because you have legacy, it only shows that you are unsure about the rest of your credentials. All in all, legacy does not help too much, especially for Wharton.
UPenn financial aid is known to be less than some of the other ivy leagues, but it doesn’t mean they won’t help. Colleges will do whatever they can do to ensure students flourish in their academic society.
Does someone have an added advantage submitting the application before Nov 1, or are all the applications for ED read after the early deadline?
No added advantage .
Does anyone know if applying ED to M&T program will cause my application to be looked at more harshly if I do not get into M&T early and am considered for Penn engineering early?
@ellier19 Yeah if you don’t get into M&T early then you can send your application to a single school, either Wharton or engineering. Your choice.
If you are legacy and want any kind of boost from it, you MUST apply ED…pretty much flat out says this on their website.
