By the way. I didnt mean to say mediocre! I know how painful that can be to people with similar scores! It was more of a comment about me, and how I was personally disappointed with myself. But anyone in the 2000s should be really proud:)
@financemajor37 @AF500 I also smile and nod when something thinks I’m applying to Penn State. But I’ve found out that doesn’t work so well when someone puts me in touch with an alumni and ask a few weeks later why I didn’t contact them lol
@skiing26 That’s so true! I remember my physics teacher, who gave great life lessons but confusing physics lessons, once told us that we’ll all end up loving the schools we eventually attend whether it was our first-choice or safety, and honestly, no matter what happens, the experience will still be amazing. Alas, tensions are still high and nothing will stop me from worrying, haha.
@andpeggyy haha. Same! I repeat, “I am not where I go. I will be happy. I am not where i go…”
We will get a date tomorrow, and while I wish it would be this friday it definitely won’t be. But who knows, Cornell is Thursday the 8th, and Penn hasn’t ALWAYS been on Fridays so maybe we could get early next week if they really finished that early.
@killingmeED I wouldn’t worry about not having much research. I tried to find a research position at my local hospital but they don’t accept high schools students. I think admissions officers know that research is hard to come by
@andpeggyy that sounds EXACTLY like my physics teacher! Maybe its just a physics teacher thing. And same I’m still hella stressed but at least we are all in this together
I totally agree with you @AF500 and there is anyway much more that Penn will look for other than GPAs and SAT/ACT scores! I don’t have that great of an ACT score but I have some great ECs to show them. There is always one unique factor in each application and until the decisions you never know what the adcom actually though of that activity which you developed. So I think it’s pointless speculating what’s gonna happen in the coming few days.
@killingmeED I feel your pain! Legacy and faculty, but I don’t know much the really counts anymore. Espically how compatitive things are.
Just wanted to add on to the list of lurkers-turned-posters. Been checking this thread multiple times a day for the past couple of weeks. May need to seek psychiatric help.
Side note, anyone else here from SC?
Honestly, stress and uncertainty aside, i am very thankful for all of you on this thread. At least i know i am not alone in this disheartening process, we have eachother, and that’s what matters. It’s relieving to see other people your age experiencing the same emotions as you do, so i just wanted to thank yall for the support! I also wanted to thank you guys for not being snobby, condescending, and cut-throaty, we are all REAL people here, i love it!
soo where the gays at lmao
@KateHBag that’s really refreshing to hear! It’s been difficult because I’m too busy to be able to make a time commitment to a lab! I’m doing two science fairs this year because I’m in a STEM research class at my school, so I’m hoping that will make up for any deficits in research!
@Palak786 I admire you so much! For how calm you are, and for your optimism. You are right:)
Not sure if I want to know the decision before all of my friends know theirs or after lol
@andpeggyy Also - just adding onto you haha - it’s more about what we decide to make of our college experience, not the institution we attend.
@theng welcome! Though you may need to search for real professional mental help, after this is done
@AF500 I would stay optimistic–my friend has legacy and faculty, and she got in last year! You have a great shot! Keep your head up
lol within the last 6ish hours this thread has exploded
