My son got a lot of odd questions and comments from an interviewer whose son was not admitted to Penn last year, and who seemed to have a real chip on his shoulder. I can’t help but think he would have been better off without an interview.
I am from tennessee @rogerinprogress
My interviewer literally only asked me two questions which lasted ten minutes. Then I asked a ton of random questions. She said you have a really good chance and I really hope you get in at the end. I guess that’s a good sign???
I think so. I think it’s better to be short and sweet then get asked a bunch of random questions.
My D received email from Penn last week saying her rec letter are still missing, the counselor called admission office right away and they said they found letters, but now her portal still notbeupdated and showing not complete. Anyone has same situation? it’s already end of November, will this kill her chance?
@pennplz here!! bay area eyyy
ya’ll my interview was rough. I could tell it went wrong the second I stood up to greet him and was exactly 2.5 feet taller, and THEN I saw him wipe my sweaty handshake on his pants.
Hoping for the best tho!
P.s. did anyone else ED to the DMD program/is anyone from New Mexico?
@captainmika WHEW read threw 26 pages and only found one other DMD applicant yikes! DId you submit a portfolio? Im breaking down bc I decided not to but maybe that wasn’t the right decision lmao
I submitted a portfolio. But I think academic rigor in engineering and CS is placed more importance. Wish us gook luck in December!
Also a DMD applicant here I submitted a portfolio, but you should be fine without one, since Ive heard that you can get in without one
From what I have read here, last year the ED results were posted on Friday, Dec 9th. I also saw that they release them usually the second Friday in December. That means it will be Dec 8th this year. Having said that, they also extended their ED deadline this year because of natural disasters. That combined with a record number of ED applications (10% more than last year), I will not be surprised that this years’ results aren’t released until Dec 15th.
I’m kind of afraid about my reaction if I don’t get in. Penn is seriously my best shot at attending an american college since I can’t afford a public school as an International student. I almost feel like I should leave town before finding out whether I got in or not, I’d be sure no one witnesses the train wreck, how apprehensive are you guys about the decision?
There are many good American Schools that give large amounts of Aid. Don’t worry and try for others if needed
@Quebec part of me really dreams about getting in and ending this college applying misery, but then again, college apps are so random nowadays I won’t be surprised if i even get rejected instead of a deferral. notification date’s right during finals week and i can imagine myself barely pulling my stuff together after a rejection and applying to all my regulars during the break. really waiting for a miracle, and i do wish you all the best
@anyexreita upenn is one of many great colleges, don’t worry. If not upenn, then something else. If ur stats are good, then you have a high chance for many colleges.
@Quebec My heart starts to beat loudly and adrenaline rushes through my body when I think of possibly getting into Penn. In other words, I am both apprehensive and excited to say the LEAST.
Cool
@lovebusiness Nice! Based off your username I’m going to assume you applied to Wharton?
@pennplz socal here
Hey,
I’m currently working on a website with a friend and I wanted to know, on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you think you would (or would have if you get in and don’t need to edit your application for Regular Decision) use a peer-review platform where you can have your material looked at by other students? As an International student, I feel like I would have loved to have access to such a tool since I have little to no help from my school. Everything (from what to write about in your essay to finding out I have to pay and send my scores [I figured that out 3 days before the deadline]), I learned from blogs, official websites, and forums like this, so a mean to validate my essay, extra-curricular, writing section and scores would have been really useful. My idea also sprung out from the human need for validation and the fears that college applications bring out, all of which you can see in the overwhelming amount of people who share their profile asking for their chances (whether here, on Quora, or other platforms). You could do essay-only reviews, whole profile reviews, writing supplements reviews, etc. I would obviously have to work out a way to make it so that people who actually take time to review others’ profiles properly get the same level of attention in return, but I first wanted to see whether you guys think its a good idea or not!
