UPenn ED Class of 2022 Discussion

@vegucated26 @aoeuidhtns This is not correct! You can apply ED to Penn and also to other schools EA. It is just that you have to attend Penn if admitted. You can apply to Penn ED and Chicago EA. But if you get into Penn ED, then you must withdraw your Chicago application.

@Penn95 omg thank you so so so much!! I am so relieved now!

@aoeuidhtns That’s the policy from a couple years ago, they reversed it

@machiavelli1738 Hey! Can you share some tips for getting into M&T?
I was looking for a BAS and a Finance and Entrepreneurship degree.

Any tips?

Also, can I please know your stats? (Just to see in how much water I am in).

Can anyone please tell which one is more generous for international students in terms of financial aid? Columbia or Penn?

@Danny3895 there should not be much difference, but Penn is a richer school both in an absolute and per student basis so it might be that their financial aid is slightly more generous. But I dont think the difference is substantial, if there at all.

@Penn95 Thanks!

@Penn95 Ahh got it, I didn’t realize they relaxed the ED restrictions. Thanks for the heads up.

I’m excited to apply ED! I would love to go to Wharton, fingers crossed!

@aoeuidhtns yes the restrictions were actually never enforced. They were first announced during summer 2016 i think but by the end of the summer they were scrapped because of backlash from high school counselors.

So one can ED to Penn and EA at say UMich, right?

@ceomommy21 Yes!

@ceomommy21 yes you can do that. but of course if you get into Penn you must withdraw the EA app.

Did anyone get into PEEP?

Hi guys, I am planning on applying to Penn ED and I really want to get in… I am torn between applying to CAS or Wharton. For most of my high school career I was interested in bio/poli science but I just figured out I am really interested in studying finance. Anyways, could someone tell me what my chances are of getting into CAS or Wharton?

SAT: 1520 (760 Reading & Writing, 760 Math)
SAT Math II: 730
SAT Bio-E: 770

GPA: 4.0

AP Bio: 4
AP Lang and Comp: 5
AP Physics 1: 3
AP Gov: 5
AP Enviro: 5
AP Lit: 4

All my other core classes are honors courses. I took Calc 1 Senior year (I’m taking a gap year) and am taking Calc 1 again online this year from UC Berkeley. My only course kind of related to business is personal finance…

Extracurriculars:
-Professional ballet dancer, more than 100 performances, lead roles with professional ballet company, went on tour around North America, prestigious dance programs across the country. I have danced for 14 years and train at least three hours a day.
-Model UN, grades 10-12, won several 1st place awards at MUN conferences
-Young Democrats, Senior member, grades 10-12
-Fellowship for PADems, June 2016-Nov 2016
-full-time internship at non-profit interest group in Washington D.C. (June 2017-August 2017)
-Internship at architecture firm (Sept 2017-present)
-work part time at a bakery (current)

I also have legacy to Penn.
Idk it seems like I would be better off if I applied to CAS and went to Wharton for MBA possibly.

can you share your stats with which you are applying?

@mld1234 Apply where you will be happy going to. If you want to do finance post-college, then Wharton would give you the best tools to do that. From your profile, your ballet experience is a great hook and I think something that would read very well in your application. However, you would need to address why you want to transition into wall street. For example, I think it would be a more seamless application if you said you wanted to study management so that you could run/operate a dance company. Instead, if you said finance, I would be scratching my head a bit.

I think you have a good shot at either the college or wharton, but rumor has it that the business school has a lower admission rate. An MBA would be 10 years from now, so I wouldn’t bank on that—it’s very likely that your interests will change in the meantime.

Does anyone think its worth applying ED to UPENN with a 26 super scored ACT? Taking it one more time so hoping to get it up a couple of points, but I am so unsure whether I should or not.
I’m taking three AP’s this year (My school offers 15)
Gov
Lit
Spanish
GPA= 3.6
My grades have only grown throughout high school, so I have an upward trend (had a rough start)/and very good EC’s and essay

Crew kid, I suggest applying Ed to a school that will yield a better chance than Penn. A 3.6 gpa and a 26 is not going to work at Penn.

Yep, if you apply ED to UPenn, you can apply EA to any public university.
