wah.. 30 more days?.......... such a long wait.

29 days! + characters

hmmm.....out of curiosity, is there anyone on here who thinks he/she will get in for sure? (i am def. not sure abt this one - so not me)

i wouldn't say I'm getting in for sure. But I'd be surprised more if I didn't get in than if I got in....

HAHA. I am def. not sure...I think I'll be pleasantly surprised if I get accepted, and I'll just be a little bit disappointed if get get rejected/deferred. No big deal.

I just looked at the ED acceptance thread from last year.

OH.... MY..... GOD.....

My confidence level defintely went down, lol. Some girl with a 1600 and good everything else got rejected. ouch.

"flat out rejected.. 3.8 1600, 770 770 800
i dont even understand"

Her exact words.

which one is the dental school and when does the applications have to be in??????

Yeah I just read those too. Wow, that was scary...so many kids with great scores and great gpa's getting rejected. I think we have to keep this in perspective. I've always found it funny how kids on this site say they have "great" essays. How do you know you have great essays? Most people who are ambitious enough to apply ED to an ivy league school are going to try to write the best essays they can, but basically it's a completely subjective thing. So that's one possibility...these kids essays might have actually sucked. Also, there could have been something negative in their recs or perhaps they just seemed too obsessed with academics. So yeah, it's a little scary for us 1500+'ers but one of those posters made a very good point. There are three types of people posting their decisions. The first are the kind with the great apps who are ecstatic they got in. The second are those with the seemingly great apps who are depressed/shocked/devestated that they didn't get in. The third are those who didn't expect to get in, but did and are very excited about it. This leaves out the fourth party which would probably comfort us the most...those who didn't expect to get in and in fact didn't get in. Although it's scary to see kids with perfect 4000's and 4.6's being rejected...let's be realistic. The higher your sat score and the higher your gpa the better the chance you have at acceptance. Obviously, it's impossible to be a lock.

i hope my admissions director likes poker. I wrote my entire page 217 about it. and i talked about it in my why penn essay.

are we going to be as rabid as they were in that thread come decision time?

Well, believe it or not, I talked to my regional rep about a month ago. He says that there was this kid that "had a 1570, load of APs, all 5's and like one 4, that wrote three sentences for his WHY PENN essay. I recommened reject." And...yah...I think flipping back to the archives, you can actually find this kid!

lol.

When I got to speak personally with my rep I didn't even ask him about college besides what colleges he went to. I figured he would be hounded with college questions all day - it was a meetup day thing - and since i know pretty much everything i can know about penn, i decided to try to be remembered as the kid that was smart enough to talk to the regional rep about normal things like the eagles and how the nba sucks now.

slight tangent, yes. but anything helps to pass the next 29 days.
