The Final Countdown

Well with roughly two weeks remaining until the apparent "deadline" that Penn St. follows for sending out priority decisions, we...er....wait some more. Thrilling right? I didn't think so.

And yet, if the decisions for those of us still waiting are acceptance to what and where we wished, then suddenly the wait is all worth it. And if they aren't? .. Well, we should probably stay away from any nuclear facilities.

Nonetheless, I'm still excited. Its my number one choice, for a multitude of reasons. And I hope, despite a long wait, that the response is positive, else I'm packing my bags for Oswego. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is a bit of a let down for me personally - I'm sure many of you have similar situations.

So as we wait impatiently this last tough stretch of days, I would enjoy discussing with anybody applicants, especially those who are waiting like me, about their plans on whether or not they're going to penn st, info. about your respective major, and general things you're looking forward to at University Park. And, other colleges you might be interested in.

Hopefully, it's all worth it.

Quick stats: 3.67 uw GPA, 1990 SATS

Allow me to start it off with a question - do you guys think that "priority" decision gives us at least a decent to good chance of getting into our selected majors? I say this because mine, meteorology, can b e difficult to get into here and I hope that the priority deal arises my chances.

Good luck to all! :)

All I can say is that Penn State seems like such a great school. I live about 40 minutes away from State College, which has allowed me to go up and visit the town quite often. It is such a great place to be and everyone has so much Nittany pride - you can see it everywhere. I recently went up there and was so jealous of the kids that are currently attending. I kept thinking that they were sooo lucky to be there lol. For the past couple of months I’ve been checking my admissions status and it hasn’t changed yet. I just hope that this wait is well worth it because Penn State is my top choice! I’ll be devastated if I don’t get in. I really can’t see myself attending any other college than Penn State. :(

I agree entirely, it’d be a giant disappointment to have to go somewhere else. I feel as though since I Applied on Nov. 28th (near the end of priority applying), and since I don’t have outstanding stats, I would expect to the hear somewhere around the final week of January.

Yeah I really hope we hear within the next couple of weeks…It’s been such a long wait. For me its been since September :/

I am so excited to go if accepted! I’ve been there 3 weekends already in the fall, and I think it was those trips that gave me more information about the school than any tour. I know lots of people who don’t go there say it’s just a huge party school, which is true to some extent. Still, I don’t think people realize the academic rigor at Penn State and their impressive graduation to career assistance. Plus the outstanding school spirit and friendliness of most of the people I’ve met! Just wish they’d make a decision already…

Ugh my parents wouldn’t even allow me to visit Penn State unless I got in, and waiting for this decision is really killing me! If I don’t hear by tomorrow I just might scream.

Definitely sop, we’ve already suffered together. And edawns I agree, partying is very evident and notorious, but if that was the focus of the school and it’s applicants, the standards for admissions and respect for the programs alike wouldn’t be so high.

Again, I’m trying not to think so intently about all of the great opportunities and aspects that come with Penn St. until I receive a decision.

I checked Friday morning and I finally have the “coming days” status… the wait is really killing me now. They have to have a decision by tomorrow or else I’ll go crazy. I applied October 22nd for the School of Nursing. I know that nursing students don’t usually find out until the end of January which I think is absurd. Rolling admissions? I don’t think so! Penn state is my number one choice… the ONLY con I have is that nursing students are off campus for a semester either their junior or senior year. But still I don’t think that will hold me back… kind of like my own little study abroad haha. I LOVED everything about the school when I visited last year and I’m praying I get in. Good luck to everyone!!!

I applied Nov. 29th, but they only received my transcripts and test scores in Dec. so I’m guessing I’m probably going to have to wait until late February…if I’m lucky. I’ve had the “status change” though, saying that a decision will be posted once made.
I’m really nervous because my stats aren’t very competitive, and I really want to go to Penn State UP.

This is so frustrating but we are all going to hear within two weeks!

We really deserve an award for all of this waiting. Don’t be discouraged!!! :)

I got the coming days status on the Saturday ( thefourteenth) and REALLY thought I would’ve heard back by today ;sigh; I really can never win with the school, the wait NEVER ends.

What is the coming days status, exactly?

“Thank you for applying to Penn State. Your application has been received and is being reviewed. An admission decision will be posted here in the coming days.”

Ah okay, I have that status as well. Is that supposed to mean a decision will be made soon? Or is it just to let you know they have everything you need?
The issue with me is that they only received my test scores and transcripts in Dec. probably mid or end of the month, so I’m guessing I have a loooong time to wait…

No if you have a coming days status you should hear within 1-5 days. Normally 2-3 but as usual I’m at the lower end of the barrel.

Really??? Oh gosh…I think I’ve had that new status for at least 3 days…I’m officially freaking out! Thanks for the info!

Youre welcome! And same here :(

Do you know if for example, I were to be accepted to the Branch School I put as an “alternative”, I could possibly change that “branch school”? As in, I applied to a branch school I’m not sure I’d like to go to after all, and would want to switch it if I were to be rejected from UP.

You can definitely change the alternate campus.

Sop520 i have a feeling because of the 3 day weekend they didn’t update anything – don’t worry :)

Blitz is right, I wouldn’t be concerned :)
