Thank you @obligatoryname and @Much2learn! I will try to see what I can do about subject scores
I think you’re definitely a strong applicant. Great ACT scores and ECs! Very rigorous curriculum which is important at Penn (I think) Overall your app is really strong. Though what I’m kind of worried about is your SAT IIs and AP scores. In my opinion Bio (700) and Math II (720) are a bit on the low side. AP Calc and Bio scores also. But then your ACT should make up for it and it’s nothing major to worry about. Best of luck! You never know maybe we’ll go to med school together!
p.s. Awkward, didn’t realize how old this was. I thought you were asking for next year, many apologies. In any case, you had a fair shot (you’re an awesome applicant, this doesn’t mean you’re not worth it or anything) and don’t despair, you still have a shot in the regular round and if not, I’m sure other great schools will want you with those stats, as they were so good I felt the need to pat you on the back without even paying attention to when this was posted. You will find a great place for you
@VaishS you are a very competitive applicant for a lot of schools. If I were to guess, I think there’s a good chance that you are still in running for LSM, but they weren’t ready to accept you early w/o evaluating the RD pool. Because you were not ‘rejected’ from the LSM pool yet, I have a hunch they did not consider you for CAS. I hope what I’m saying makes sense…If you applied directly to CAS or weren’t quite LSM-caliber, there’s zero doubt you would been accepted to CAS.
Thank you guys so much @invisiblylonely @dblazer!
I am working on becoming a better applicant and updating them on it in a couple months
My GPA this year so far has been a 5.1 which is alot higher than the GPA I ended with last year (4.49) and hopefully my rank will increase too (4 to 1-2)
Also, I am working on finishing and published my 2 research manuscripts and if I successfully do that it will help a lot too
I hope those two things and showing true passion are enough to push me over the edge
And @dblazer Yeah that makes sense, that’s a big question I had! I agree with what you wrote (deferred LSM, not considered CAS) but I will call Monday to make sure!
Again, thank you! A pick-me-up was very helpful as I start my RD apps
Also, in RD, don’t think that because UPenn deferred you that should be your highest reach. Apply to other top ivy leagues, even if they have lower admissions rates (if they are schools you would want to go to, of course). I mean, if you were thinking of applying to another very selective school, do still apply. I know many people who got rejected from one school but got accepted into other schools with much lower acceptance rates
