UPenn Fisher program + Premed

Greetings,
I am a rising senior who is considering applying to UPenn early decision. My interests lie in biological engineering and business. However, I hope to also pursue the intersection between serving as a healthcare professional and biotech developer/researcher. Is it possible to satisfy the requirements for Premed, Biological Engineering and the Wharton school or would this be an unfeasible overture? I realize that the Vagelos program is similar, but I prefer the Fisher program considering my interest in the engineering of biosystems. I would appreciate any advice.

One or two people do M&T + pre-med every year.

I legitimately think you’d be better off doing a combined MD / MBA instead of M&T + pre-med.

If you really want to do premed, lsm is probably the way to go. Engineering + wharton + premed is going to be overkill, and your GPA might end up shot.

I need to add that my best friend in M&T was also pre-med, and she was legitimately the most stressed, sleep-deprived person I’d ever met. You do not want to do that to yourself. This is coming from someone who took 24 AP exams in high school and graduated M&T + master’s degree in computer science—so, it’s coming from someone who knows a thing or two about insane academic workloads. I didn’t have to worry about studying for the MCAT, slaving through work-intensive classes like organic chemistry, and having to retake all my science courses (you can’t AP out of any sciences for med school applications).

@vkrish @“Keasbey Nights” Would lsm allow me to take bioengineering or only biological sciences?

Just biological sciences. You could always take BE courses as electives.

If you want to combine the MD/MBA Union College has a great 8-year program that allows you to pursue an interdisciplinary major, an MBA, and a MD. That’s where I’m going this fall.
