I have a $5500 regents scholarship to UCLA, and I love that school and location. I also love UPenn. I am doing pre-med (something bio related). What are the benefits/disadvantages of either side?

Congrats! I might see you as a SEAS 2012, but I'm probably going to Harvey Mudd instead.

The nursing and medical programs at Penn are excellent. I don't know much about UCLA's med program, but Penn allows you to enter their graduate medical program from its undergrad pre-med program without taking the MCAT exam - a big plus. Basically, if your work at it, you could get both your undergraduate and graduate from Penn in 5 years, leaving you with an extra year to take more courses, grab a second major, or just enter the workforce a year earlier than your contemporaries (excuse the proliferation of commas there).

I'd ask somebody who's more knowledgeable about UCLA regarding its med program. In any case, congrats on getting both UCLA and Penn :)

um, we don't have a program like that, you're thinking about the accelerated med program at penn state / jefferson medical college...

^LOL..10char
