Please provide if the school is a reach, match, or safety. Thanks again and good luck all fellow rising seniors! Class of 2011!

I think you have really good chances at all of these schools, it is just a matter of luck in alot of cases. Spend alot of time writing your essays and you will be fine. It would be better though if you had won any major awards but I think you are fine.

Thanks, any more ideas :). Bump!

Bump bump bump!

In at USC, SCU, Davis.
The rest of the schools are slight reaches, depending on the quality of your essays and teacher recs.

How many AP classes have you taken? Your UW GPA is on the low side for the high UCs and other private schools.

You have another thread as well. Why make this one?

Thanks for the replies and the other thread had mistakes and I tried to edit them but it would not let me.

Spatula, I have taken 6 AP classes and almost all honors classes.

Bump! Bump!

I’d say, changing a bit what phxfire said… to be more optimistic I think  but you certainly have a great shot anywhere :D

^ Wharton ED is definitely not a low reach. For a school that is on par with HYP in terms of standards and selectivity, there’s no possible way to justify calling Wharton ED a low reach unless the applicant has a major hook. When an applicant is a low reach to HYP then (s)he is a low reach to Wharton (unless he has tons and tons of leadership).

@HKToUS dude chill out

It will still be easier to get into Wharton than it will be to get into Princeton. Go compare their acceptance rates. Admittedly I did not know Whartons was 13% so I would change it to mid-reach.
And also I am suspecting that you are international, admissions for those born in the US is not as difficult for us as it is for you.

That figure doesn’t include people applying for double majors at Wharton. When you add those to the list the acceptance rate drops near 7-8% making it as competitive, if not more, as HYP.

LyndonB, I would not call UVA a safety.

And you also have to think about FA - it might hurt your chances at some schools (that aren’t need-blind).

You have a good chance at getting some merit $$ from USC, and maybe some from Rice and Michigan as well (I heard they can be pretty generous at times).

Thanks guys. Obviously, the GPA is whats killing me. I will not be applying for any fin aid from the top schools, but I will consider merit scholarships.

You will definitely be a competitor for Wharton and Princeton, and i say you are in at Cornell depending on the school and if you write a good essay.

Thanks, I hope so. I am looking at one of the business programs at Cornell.

The thing that definitely stands out the most is your fencing!
I do think that you will have a competitive application with your scores but your EC’s are a bit average.
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)-ED- Reach
Cornell University- Low Reach
Princeton University- Reach/high Reach
Rice University- Don’t know enough to say
University of Michigan- Match
University of Virginia -Match/High Match

I’m no expert though. Good Luck!

Thanks, I just know that depth is better than breadth. Hopefully, I will do well.

good chances at most of those schools, but it’s kind of hard to tell how bad your GPA is with just a weighted score though
