Slovakia, but I am studying at UWC, so i am confident…and even If I am not accepted…I don’t know If I wanted to go to school which put emphasis on such a stupid test like SAT’s, while declaring they look at your application in a hollistic way (btw, my Subject tests were 800Bio 750Math, so nah, I will see…US is my safe choice anyway :D)
Anyone applying for SEAS like I am? BTW, how much weight do SAT II’s carry? Because although I have a 2320 on the regular SAT, I have only 710 in math level 2 and 680 in chemistry
@ARTPOP I think you better take the SAT one more time in January. I’m international too, btw. I got 1890 on my first try, bumped it to 2080 on the 2nd try, and 2320 on the third.

@McKilla99
If Upenn considers the SAT score to be the most important aspect of one’s application/personality/academic abilities, probably it is not the great school i want to apply to. + they see I scored the full IB, which is much more difficult that any AP courses, so I should think 45 in IB could be equal to the GPA of 4.5, even more.
If Upenn considers the SAT score to be the most important aspect of one’s applciation/personality/academic abilities, probably it is not the great school i want to apply to…btw, where are you from?
@ARTPOP India, but I’ve lived in Dubai my whole life. Well, my curriculum is CBSE, which is one of, if not the, hardest curricula in the world :’) GPA is a tad bit more important than SAT.
- Why are you applying to UPenn? Well ranked in bio-engineering, friends are applying there as well.
- What draws you to UPenn? See above. In addition, the atmosphere is appealing, located in a nice city, not too many environmental disasters such as tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, or hurricanes to look out for.
- Which program are you applying to? SEAS
- Where did you apply for EA? Nowhere.
- What are your qualifications? I’m competitive enough I hope.
- What is your intended major? Bio-engineering.
- What are your hobbies/interests/extracurriculars? Hiking, reading I suppose.
- What tips/advice do you have for applying? Alea iacta est. The whole thing is a dice roll really. All one can do is wait.
Although, if/when any of you do get rejected/accepted in RD, post your stats for future generations. Especially those who are rejected, as there tend to be less of those.
@Nedcone Your reasoning for number two is quite unique Are you mentioning the interdisciplinary approach; that even while enrolled in SEAS, you can take courses through CAS or Wharton, even Nursing if you wanted?
Deferred ED from Penn, hoping for a shot at RD. I’ll answer the questions because they look fun
- Why are you applying to UPenn?
- I fell in love with Locust Walk and the Kelly Writers House. Penn has strong programs across the board, including the humanities/social sciences, which is what I’m interested in. Though Penn is considered a big school, I can really see myself finding a niche and a supportive community. Also, its reputation as the “social ivy” certainly doesn’t hurt it either
- What draws you to UPenn?
- ^Above. Also, I’m in NJ, so the location is perfect—close enough to home to visit on holidays but just far enough to gain a sense of independence. I also really like the small city feel of Philly. My main city is New York but I really want a new environment for college.
- Which program are you applying to?
- CAS!
- Where did you apply for EA?
- Applied to UChicago (deferred) and my public state school (accepted!).
- What are your qualifications?
- Letter of support from the Kelly Writers House (sort of like recruitment). My stats are in the ED results forum and in my previous threads.
- What is your intended major?
- Undecided (lol), probably something in the Humanities or Social Sciences
- What are your hobbies/interests/extracurriculars?
- Writing, viola (orchestra), speech/debate, music and music therapy volunteering, rewatching Parks and Rec on Netflix
- What tips/advice do you have for applying?
- Work hard on the supplemental essays. Find legitimate reasons to love Penn and communicate them. Also, a lot of this is based on chance—what happens happens. Hoping for the best in the RD round.
Hey everyone, I have a quick question about Penn’s research abstract supplement. My abstract was never published. Would it be appropriate to include 1-2 sentences explaining that the project was completed through a university’s program?
Nice to see all of you interested in UPenn RD. I was just accepted ED to SEAS. If any of you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me a message!
FL applicant here.
RD application submitted 12/26.
Good luck to all of us.
I needa get on this supplement
@LordBendtner same… T-T

German club!! woot woot. Also painting - What tips/advice do you have for applying?
go for it!
stares blankly at the empty boxes on my common app
@kcarpenterfan “1) Why are you applying to Penn? uhh #1 it’s close”
When you are applying to a school with a 9.9% admit rate, “uhh #1 it’s close” is not a reason that will help you make it to the admit pile. They want you to tell them why the Penn experience is right for you. There are several Philadelphia colleges you could attend if you just want to be close to home.
@Much2learn If it is the best close college, it is a legitimate reason. Anon must have different priorities than you do since he values distance from home. Everyone has their own reasons for choosing a school.
Now that would not be what I say in my why Penn essay…
