I live in central time and submitted the Common App at 10:50 and the date on Common App says the 5th. The writing supplement I submitted later at around 11:30 so the Common App says the 6th. I thought the deadline time was 11:59 whatever time zone you’re in, will this affect my application or am I being paranoid?
@gearsstudio I wrote my Why Penn supplement on what Penn specifically offers in my interests and major (clubs, research, professors, classes).
Applied to Penn at 11:50 last night #:-S
guys i submitted my application 2 hrs late due to difficulties…it shows jan 6 on their end but does it show the time as well? i’m so devastated what should I tell them? does this mean i won’t even have a chance?
@MayiqueCynthia I am sorry that happened to you. I would call the Penn admissions office and ask them whether they will still accept it. I don’t think anyone else can tell you.
My complete guess is that they would still accept applications that were in before they came to work this morning, but I really don’t know.
- Literally no clue but I like it for some reason

Pleased to meet y’all
hey guys! i got emailed today to set up my interview and im honestly so nervous. is there anyone who’s already been interviewed (i know it’s really early but maybe anyone from the early round…?) and if so, do u have any tips?
in addition to the person above me, how much weight do the interviews carry?
The interviews sometimes capture any information that did not come through in the application. Sometimes the applicant has omitted information that may be important, but they don’t realize that it is important.
Also, the interview is an opportunity for applicants to ask questions and learn more about the school.
At some schools, what is said during the interview is not very important, but the fact that you participated in the interview is important. Not doing the interview is considered to demonstrate a significant lack of interest in the school.
Just got an email from my interviewer just now :0 ahhhhhh
@chubii - Got an email from my interviewer today.
For those of you who were deferred ED from Penn, did you send your update letter? I’m still working on mine but I want to email it out by early/mid-January!
Also, for those of who who just missed the deadline and applied on January 6, I’m sure they will still accept your application! All of these colleges WANT your application (and your money), so as long as you call/email an admissions rep and clear things up, I’m sure you will be fine
I haven’t started yet @shadyconcepts
Goal is to start in a week or so, and have it in by mid feb
@TheWaffleMan149 Nice, good luck!
Thanks @shadyconcepts
Same to you! Would like to know what they were unsure about in my application that made them defer me
@TheWaffleMan149 I agree, I thought you were really qualified and super passionate about Penn!! It just goes to show how much of a crapshoot this all is and how it’s sad they can’t admit every qualified applicant. I think I know why they deferred me (GPA lol), so I’m just gonna try my best to get a good midyear report, convey that Penn is still my first choice, and go from there. Hopefully they’ll be able to give you some insight into why you were deferred.
I was told by several people not to call, but I saw that someone on the Cornell thread got information from their admissions office, so I am wondering if anyone else was able to get any info @shadyconcepts
I am hoping and praying that my deferral response letter puts me over the edge. I think if you keep your grades up, that will definitely work in your favor.
@TheWaffleMan149 I think a call wouldn’t hurt! I think it just shows your interest and if you’re polite about asking info, maybe they’ll give it to you. Thanks, definitely trying to pull those As! And hopefully our letters will come thru :)>-
@TheWaffleMan149 I am sure there was nothing that they were unsure of about you. I’ve been told that a lot of SCEA decisions were trending towards first gen and international applicants. They need to round out a class - there are only a certain amount of spots for each state to be represented, and each minority, first gen, different sports, different majors the list goes on and on. It’s sad and frustrating that so many qualified applicants aren’t accepted but know you will get in somewhere and go on to do amazing things. Promise!
