UPenn Transfer Thread 2

mishra..if that is true thatll really help in my situation. i am applying as a transfer to cornell for sophomore standing. they require 7 prerequisites for their business program prior to transfer, of which i will only have completed 4. i would definitely take the courses (bio 1 & 2, and macroeconomics) over the summer at my current if that means going to cornell. do you think they will go for it?

they might...but think about it...

accept someone who HAS completed the prereqs
...or someone who hasnt but promises to

it may be the deciding factor

exactly. in the case of multiple schools that I have looked into (mainly business), the admissions committee stresses the importance of taking the prereq classes, completing them so that grades appear on the transcripts, and taking the specific courses they ask for (i.e. taking Calculus I if they ask for it and not taking Business Calc because it's easier). All of these things can play a part in "marginal circumstances," and at the top schools, with so many great applicants, there are a lot of marginal circumstances where they are looking for anything to cut an applicant out of the running if someone else cared enough to follow their instructions.

Mishra Are U Getting Financial Aid? And Which Prog U Applied For>>i Mean Which Course..or Wharton

No financial aid as I am an international student and our bleak chances get significantly reduced if we apply for aid. I am concentrating in Finance and OPIM in Wharton.

I agree that someone who has completed pre-reqs has a better shot. But apply and see - what have you got to lose? I think it is worth the potential benefits.
