What are some pros and cons of UPenn versus Duke for a premed student?

Some things that are important to me:
-% admitted to medical schools
-social scene
-campus
-quality of life
-the girls
-competition/grading of professors
-prestige (international and national)

I got into Duke and (I know it's really dumb but) I was sent a missing fa document letter from UPenn that's making me really optimistic about UPenn. (No other college except Duke and UPenn have asked for this form, which I forgot to send to all colleges, and Duke asked for it right before I got in...)

By % admitted to med school, I'm talking about the % who applied to a medical school and was admitted to at least 1.

-% admitted to medical schools
-competition/grading of professors
-prestige (international and national)

I think you'd find very little difference in the above factors, and any hard statistics would be meaningless. If I were you, I'd make my decision based on these criteria:
-social scene
-campus
-quality of life
-the girls

There's certainly a big difference between the campuses (urban vs. more rural), not sure about the other three. If you get into Penn, spend time at both schools and see which feels better to you.

I think Duke and Penn have very similar social scenes. The locations are obviously different- Southern small town vs. Northeastern big city (although they have very similar racial issues). The student bodies are quite alike though. I'd say they're generally more pre-professional, superficial partiers than those of their peer schools (don't take this the wrong way- I'm obsessed with Penn). Have you heard of I Am Charlotte Simmons? It was based on the social scenes at Penn and Duke. It's extreme, but I'd say that's a sort of negative caricature of both the schools.

well as far as access to med research opportunities, penn's pretty good about that (#3 med school in the country, #1 research hospital in the region directly next to the quad)
