My top college choices are UPenn & UCB. I really like UPenn’s curriculum over Berkeley’s and plan to double major in Engineering and Business. I personally prefer UPenn, but is it really worth $120K more than Berkeley?
BTW- Which school has a ‘nicer’ (more academic) campus/ student body/ etc.?

holy shyttt, take the full ride @ berkeley, berkeley is AWESOME, and you are looking wayyyy to much at specifics, both universities are EXCELLENT, but i would DEFINITELY go for the full ride @ berkeley.

no way in hell that UPenn is worth 120K more than Berkeley. Berkeley has one of the best engineering departments in the world and one of the better undergrad business departments as well. Going there for free would be a much better idea!

Well I'm o-o-s for UC, so I'll end up paying a couple thousand for the first year, but even that is pretty low. GPA: 4.0 uw. My ACT/ SAT IIs aren't that hot but I am practically in all the clubs at my school (hold officer positions in 5 ECs), have a lot of volunteer hours through local hospital and tutoring, play soccer (stopped playing for school last year cause it was taking up too much time), 1 of ~300, have a job, and had a really good essay. But I think what did it for me was that I'm graduating a year early. One year less means less time to prep for college admission stuff (Tests, etc.) so I had and ACT of 30.
Some of the other schools I applied to saw graduating a year early as a bad thing (thought I just wanted to get out ASAP). But the thing is that there are practically no classes offered at my school for me to take next year. Maybe one or two history classes, but nothing in math, science or English.
BTW- Thanks for the feedback everyone. :)

Berkeley is one of the best if not the best public school in the nation. The town of berkeley is a typical east bay town. diverse, blue collar, and yada yada

Are you in the M&T program at Penn? If so, I would actually recommend Penn because you probably wouldn't even need to go to grad school (unless you wanted to go into the engineering side). I have a friend who is trying to do Haas (business)+engineering at Berkeley and it's almost unheard of, and not very practical given their curriculum and the brutal engineering curves. But the M&T business+engineering curriculum at Penn is very well-organized and highly respected. If you absolutely want to do business+engineering, then Penn is most likey the better choice, but if you only want to pick one, Berkeley is probably better.

I agree with Moco86. If you are in the 7year thing, then go to Penn. That program is like, almost (although ill sustain from saying absolutely) a garantee for the rest of your life! 7 years and a job that pays for the rest of your life, who cares about 120k? but if its regular penn, then go with berk

I very seriously considered applying for the M&T program at Penn but decided not to because I thought it was too competitive and that my admissions chances would be too low. But if I do decide to attend Penn, I will definitely decide to transfer into the program after my freshman year. The program sure is appealing!
How much do jobs for M&T graduates pay? If it's a large $$$, maybe I can persuade my parents that it really is worth $120K.
Do you think this figure would be significantly larger than jobs for Berkeley Graduates?

M&T isn't a 7-year program; it's designed as a 5-year program, but most kids in it are motivated enough to finish in 4-years. I don't know what the starting salary statistics for M&Ters is exactly, but I'm pretty sure it would be among the highest around. You can snoop around the Penn webpage if you want to know for sure.

Unfortunately, if you're not already in it, you're probably not going to be. They only accept like 5 internal transfers per year. What you can do, however, is get a good enough GPA to transfer into Wharton (I'm assuming you're in SEAS?), and then do a dual-degree in Wharton and SEAS. This is essentially the same as M&T but without the special treatment and organized curriculum.
