instantly, I don’t know how tough it is to switch from an engineering major to the Wharton School for undergraduate studies at Penn, if can be done at all. But if it can be done it is considered the best undergraduate business school in the country. If you decide to switch to yet another major, Penn would have the advantage over Michigan.

A few comments on this thread from a Michigan engineering student…

Michigan really isn’t a learn on your own with terrible teachers so you can pass an exam type of of engineering program. I’ve found my profs to be very good(in senoir level and grad courses…I’m a grad student). Also there is a huge focus on projects in Michigan Engineering. I’ve always got nice feedback from profs and learned a lot with the projects I’ve worked on. Often projects can be 40% to 50% of the grade in senoir level or grad classes, and maybe 20% to 30% in sophmore or junoir classes.

One bit of warning on the NRC rankings. There based on data that is six years old and they are most relevant to PhD students or research focused masters students. The NRC ranks are really for research students.

If you’re interested in transfering to a business school, the Umich undergrad program is also very highly ranked, however some students complain that they can’t get into it even though they a Umich students.

and hence why they were used to prove a point regarding engineering research at certain schools.
