UPitt Honors?

Hey! First, does anyone know if UPitt superscores the ACT? I read on their site that they take a combined math and english (does this include critical reading?) of 32 for the honors program. The first time I took the ACTs, I got a 30 on math and 28 on English, and the second time a 28 on math and 35 on English. Would they just consider the 30 and 35?

Pitt only considers the english and math subscores and does superscore so yes - 30 and 35 are your scores.

I think they want to see a high class rank as well.

At least top 5% from what I have read and been told.

If I have a 1390 sat math and reading, can I still get into Pitt honors? I have a 35 math and 32 English for the ACT but I didn’t submit Those because I submitted my app before I got them back. If I submit those after my normal acceptance can I still get into the UHC? @hailtopitt1787

@golfstudent13, I believe you can still submit new scores. Just send us an email oafa@pitt.edu and let us know they are coming. You can also enroll in UHC courses, with approval from your advisor, if you don’t meet all of the freshman eligibility requirements or in your sophomore year if you maintain a certain GPA.

Hope that helps!

@hailtopitt1787 Yeah! It does… Thanks so much for helping! Would I still get into the honors college even though I’m only 10 points short?

I was on campus over the weekend for a reunion. What an amazing place! You’ll love it, Missimperfect and golfstudent13!

Golfstudent, send your ACT scores, let the admissions office know you are sending them. .

@golfstudent13, Even if you are not 100% eligible as a freshman, you can talk to an academic advisor about getting into honors courses. There is more info on the link I posted above.

@hailtopitt1787 will that delay my admissions decision further?

@golfstudent13 your ACTs may qualify you for UHC as well as potential for merit aid - I think any delay would be worth it - it’s still early - email admissions and send them now

@golfstudent13, It shouldn’t delay your admissions decision if we already have scores. Please email us and go ahead and send them! oafa@pitt.edu.

@hailtopitt1787 hello… My processor told me that my application will be held until my ACT score is received, even though they already have my SAT scores. They also said that it would take another 2-4 weeks to make a decision although it’s already been in review for several (2-3) weeks. Is that true, or would they just continue the application from where it was before I emailed?

@golfstudent13, If the admissions committee requested additional materials, it can take a little more time after they receive those materials.

Hope that helps! I know waiting can be stressful, but our Committee works hard to ensure everyone gets a thorough review.

Best of luck,

@hailtopitt1787 it’s not necessarily that they asked for the scores, I told them, like you said, that my ACT scores were coming, yet they still held my decision. I’m just confused as to what happened.

Golfstudent, don’t worry, your ACT scores should make your admissions chances even better. I am sure you will hear soon. Try to be patient.

@mommdc thanks I know. It’s painful waiting because I just want to be into college already hahaha and I’m a bit worried.
