I am a transfer student who gets both offers from UMD (LTSC: Letters and science collge) and UPitt (swanson college of computer engineering). Since they are almost on the same level in terms of general ranking, though the computer related ranking of UMD is higher. The problem is that I cannot decide whether I should take CS or CE(computer engineering) program, the CE program seems to allow me to study a huge range of computer things which includes lots of CS courses. So the major might not be a big problem. However, I was not admitted into a specific major in UMD but to LTSC, will there be any problem transferring into the program I want?
Besides, I am not sure about where to go after graduation either, whether I should go back to China, or take a master program, or go to CA for jobs.
I am really not sure which school fits me better, UPitt is in urban area, while UMD is close to DC, UPitt is in inner land, while UMD is more diverse. (Plus: I am an Asian)As a photograph amateur, I prefer the city Pittsburgh, College Park seems to be neat and green, but it’s kind of repeating, in another word, boring. And I’d like to go biking on weekends, I’ve heard that Pitt is a bike-freindly city. And Pitt is like the city where I’ve always been: there’s small mount, river, lake, and urban. So which do you suggest?
Thanks.
