Upperclassmen: Give a freshman some housing advice?

I'm currently a freshman at Penn and as the semester draws to a close, everyone seems to have their housing figured out. I'm not too happy with my housing situation this year and I really haven't made too many friends this semester outside of my floor. All of the people I am friends with already have their housing plans arranged and I don't know what to do.

Pledging a frat is something that's out of the question for me, and I know I don't want to go off campus, especially alone.

I was considering getting a single in the Quad next year, but I've been advised it's a horrible decision to make.

I also considered applying to a residential program in the highrises, but I don't know how weird/risky it would be to become a straggler and have random roommates again, especially as a sophomore.

Can anyone offer me some advice?
Thanks

Hey, I’m a freshman too, but I figure I’d chime in. Talk to your RA/GA; they’ll definitely have some great answers. A lot of people seem to be rooming with a couple floormates in the highrises. If there’s anyone left on your floor, see if they want to room with you! Tossing your housing app back in the pool isn’t a bad idea, as long as you don’t mind having new roommates.

Don’t be single in the quad.

How do points work? My friends and I are all stressing over this.

Thanks, jreeder.

Honeybooboo (dear god): I think the points work something like if members of your group have previously lived in the house you’re applying to, the group gets 1 point per semester lived there per person. If 50% or more of the group has lived in the house before I think it’s a guaranteed in.
