I was admitted to LSA and applied to Ross prefered admission. I received an email earlier this month from Ross saying they were holding my application for further review and would give me a decision by May 1. Well that is only a few days away and the decision from Ross will decide if I go to Michigan or not, so I'm understandably upset with Ross for making me wait until the very last minute.So...

Is anyone in the same situation as me?
Does anyone know when I might hear from Ross?

I would not expect to get into Ross. They will probably only accept 15% this year and the average SAT/ACT for admitted students with be 2200/33. Those students will also typically have excellent ECs/work experience.

It will be easier getting into Ross once your first year in LSA is over.

yeah I would still choose UMich and get in after next year. Worst case scenario they still have a killer Econ program as well and I’m sure you can take classes in Ross too.

As hard, but Ross takes into consideration the fact that CoE is tougher with grading. From LSA, a 3.6 GPA is expected if you want a good chance of getting in, while a 3.4 from Engineering is usually sufficient.

If one doesn’t get into Ross as a Sophomore, what are other good options for LSA concentrations - in order to land a corporate or finance job after graduation?

From what I’ve heard, any major is fine as long you have a high GPA, do some networking, and be able to effectively communicate interest.

That being said, getting a good GPA in what most companies think are the more “difficult” majors (math, engineering, highly quantitative sciences) will make you stand our more than say getting a good GPA in Women’s Studies.
