Upward Trend question

Quick question particularly for students or people familiar with the application process.
So quick overview, I really sucked in terms of GPA freshman and soph years, earning some A’s some B’s and even one C+.
But in my junior year and senior year I turned it around big time and got nothing but A’s in all my classes. My GPA turned out to be a 4.7/5.0 W when it was all said and done but my junior and senior year GPA was a 5.2/5.0 W so yea… do you think that I will be rejected because of those old grades or can I count on my junior year and senior year scores to save me?
I also have great test scores and everything else about my APP seems to have no flaws. Also im applying ED and have gone to WUSTL and done an interview.

Do you think I will be rejected because of my old grades?

What’s your UW GPA?

@ap012199 not sure about UW but my W is 4.7/5…school doesnt do UW, also school doesnt rank.

I think you’ll have a good chance at WUSTL ED considering everything as long as your essays are flawless and personal.

@ap012199 hey, if you dont mind could I know ur connection to ur school? like are u prospective student or admitted ?
thanks

(not to your school, to CMU)

Just a prospective student that has done a lot of research (I wish my opinion could hold more weight).

@topschoolsapplicant To calculate an unweighted GPA just deduct the bonus that you get for AP or Honors from the GPA calculation. So if an A is a 4.0 for a regular class but a 4.5 for honors and 5.0 for AP change the honors and AP to a 4.

@Ldoponce does WUSTL use the UW or W GPA?

UW

If the weighted GPA is out of 5, how do you have a 5.2 for junior and senior year?

I don’t understand how some schools compute GPA’s…

@thshadow its because an A in honors is 5 and an A in AP is 5.5, so in a combination of those i got a 5.2/5.0

Showing improvement over time is actually really good. Maybe address your growth in your essay.
