Urban Outfitters catalog

So the new Urban Outfitters catalog was shot in part on the Smith Campus - thanks for the tip CD- my D already identified Paradise Pond, the swing and the periodical room in the Library.

I woulda thought that Small Town Outfitters would shoot their catalog at Smith.

Haha, that’s great! I got the catalogue a few days ago.

Is there anything particularly special about Urban Outfitters? I’ve always been under the impression that it was just another Abercrombie clone, but recently I’ve heard people who would normally hate those stores expressing a fondness for Urban Outfitters.

I think of Urban Outfitters as a carefully crafted more “counter-cultural” brand position. UO is probably just as corporate as A&F but the corporations leave no stone un-turned. I think of UO is tamely “edgy” whereas A&F would never be so indelicate.

the page with the guy on the bike has Haven-wes in the background

phanatic - Urban Outfitters is like the hipster Abercrombie & Fitch.

No, more like… bohemian/elegant trendy flavor…

Urban Outfitters is definitely a bit less “full of itself” than Abercrombie and Hollister and whatnot (I’m not afraid to go into Urban, whereas I won’t go near the other two). And I think it attracts a broader range of clientele. But I find that, not unlike other trendy stores, its fashions tend to cater to the uber-skinny. Yeah, maybe that’s more of a cultural issue, but I have a much easier time finding clothing at the Gap and whatnot. More flexibility, bigger range of choices.
