Urban Studies at WUSTL

I'm interested in learning more about the Urban Studies undergraduate major at WUSTL. For those of you out there familiar with the program, what do you like, don't like about it? What classes are you taking (there's very little posted on web about the major requirements)? Do you feel like there is a coherent program? What are your professors like? Any comments about the program would be appreciated.

bump... I would also like to know.

... anyone?

Urban Studies Major

The only specific things I know about it, is that many people have a double major in both Urban Studies and another Art Sci major... like American Culture Studies, IPH, or Anthropology. Many of Art Sci majors nicely integrate into one another to easily facilitate formally studying in more than one area.

Another thing, is that many of the classes use St Louis as a case study. St Louis has lots of interesting neighborhoods, history, and developments that make it a somewhat ideal city to study an urban environment. With some of the failed housing projects, its former spot as 4th largest city in America in the early 1900s and why it experienced slower growth compared to other american cities in the second half of the 20th century, the current revitalization and new construction projects Downtown, history in the anti-slavery movement, and its relationship to the Mississippi River... in my personal opinion its a great city to be in to first-hand study urban cities.

thank u so much! i happen to be quite interested in Wash. U and urban studies, too~
