Urgent! Applying to NYU. SAT & ACT

I have a problem. I took my SAT in march of 2011 in my junior year with little studying, and I scored below the NYU average on each section( i only took SAT once). I took the ACT 3 times improving every time.i ended up with a score of 31 on October of 2011 senior year with a lot of studying. Will my low SAT scores impact me negatively?

Um… why would it matter? You don’t have to send your SAT.

Depends on how ‘below average’ your SAT scores were. I had a full 100 points lower on my SAT than the NYU average and I got into the LSP program. If it really worries you, check what they want from you and if you are able to only send in your ACT scores just send in those.

Well the thing is that my school either sends all scores (SAT, ACT,AP, SAT II) or none at all. If I select none then I’ll have to send my scores through the act organization or college board. My SAT was pretty bad cause I wasn’t used to the format and I took it with barely any preparation but for ACT I actually studied. So I’m just wondering of they’ll neglect the Low SAT score and look at my higher ACT score?

Have your school send none and then send your ACT through the ACT company.

But then I won’t have my SAT II’s

Send your SAT IIs from the College Board and your ACT.

Don’t send your SATs. Just your ACT.

Don’t rely on your school to do it. Do it online yourself. It’s very simple. Just send in your ACT. You don’t even need to send in SAT IIs. NYU doesn’t require them.

NYU requires (note the "or"s)
SAT or
ACT with writing or
3 SAT subject tests or
3 AP tests

I’m just wondering even if I send all my scores. Is my SAT scores gonna hurt my chance even tho my ACT is higher

We keep telling you to NOT send in your SAT scores. Just send in your ACT and it will be fine.

I really have no idea why this thread is still going on…

In fact, I have no idea why it was even created in the first place.

What about the AP scores?

Your low SAT will not hurt. Colleges try to use the highest scores possible and NYU seems to be using that format by allowing students to present any of their scores. You ask about AP scores? Anything 3 or higher is considered.

*You should check out whether NYU accepts scores from the high school/transcript. Most colleges do not consider those acceptable forms of score reporting. I have heard of state schools accepting them that way but not private colleges. Call/email admissions asap.
