Should I go to Claremont McKenna or Berkeley for Political Science. I know its too late to be making this decision, but I'm just in a huge rut. I like the small classes of Claremont and the intimate feel of the student body, but I think its wayyy too small and the area sucks. On the other hand, I love the surrounding area of Berkeley and I feel like it would be a really exciting place to go, but I'm afraid I'm going to get lost in the big lecture classes. I also like the location of Berkeley - I'm from SoCal and I wouldn't mind checking something else out. I'm pretty independent, and I'm not afraid of going to a big school (I go to a big high school). I guess the only thing holding me back is the small classes, and therefore better academics, of CMC. Price is about the same. Anyone have any advice?

Go to Berkeley. Once you get past the freshman courses, you'll be in small upper-division classes. Berkeley's academics, if you want to take advantage of them, are second to none. The best graduate students in political science in the nation will be leading your discussions sections. The best professors lecture there.

I'd choose CMC because I'm from the Bay Area and love SoCal and CMC is an amazing school. You're in precisely the opposite position, so go to Berkeley. Try something new.

Sounds like you want to go to Berkeley. So go to Berkeley.

Thanks. I just sent in my SIR. Go bears :)

Go Bears is right! I can't imagine you'll regret it. Some students need coddling, hand-holding, booboo kisses. Some students want to take on the world on their own terms.

I'm going to Cal next year, but I would do anything to go to CMC. (I got waitlisted) Call me a traitor, but CMC has a far superior polisci program. I mean doesn't over half of the student body major in either polisci/government/econ? Either way, you're in good hands.
